Archenemies for decades, video games and exercise are about to unite. Atlas is a cheap, new "walk-around" virtual reality system that uses markers you put on the ground to track your movements as you play with an Occulus Rift headset.
I've blogged before about the Occulus and the many new experiences that can/will be built around it.
At Siggraph this year it was indeed popular with many booths featuring an Occulus VR demo.
Here is a kickstarter project that takes the Occulus and together with a living room or basketball court allows for
a) a great game :-)
b) a holodeck
c) a great training/simulation
I'm most interested in (c) as I think it has some real applications.
That said, secretly I really do want my own holodeck :-)
