What is the Difference Between Infographics and Data Visualization | Business 2 Community | Visual Thinking | Scoop.it

Both infographics and Data Visualization are tools used to visually represent data. They make it easier for the web users to grasp difficult concepts by communicating wider context in a summarized visual form. The lengthy reports, statistics and super long descriptions are by no means in the best interest of a busy society.

Instagrok and the Problem with Google Search for Students

Instagrok and the Problem with Google Search for Students | Visual Thinking | Scoop.it

Although Google obviously filters out spammy websites, it doesn’t filter out those with a one-sided political perspective or a marketing agenda. Instagrok uses semantic algorithms to pick out the top 10educational websites for your topic and display them on the right sidebar, along with key facts, videos, and images. A slider from basic to Einstein changes the complexity of the information, and the tool actually highlights any contradictions between websites.

The sketchnote revolution - Dachis Group

The sketchnote revolution - Dachis Group | Visual Thinking | Scoop.it

Sketchnotes are a visual form of note-taking that can include drawings, various lettering sizes and styles, color, icons, arrows, boxes and more — whatever works for you. I’d say that sketchnoting is officially a movement  (...). And the best part? You don’t have to be a creative genius to do it. It’s called Sketchnoting, not Art School.

Enter sketchnotes. They help make work and learning fun again.

The Visual Linguist: A Caveat: misunderstanding comics and the brain | Visual Thinking | Scoop.it

My point overall is this: as cool and interesting as it is, not all arguments need to be tied to the brain and cognition. And, in fact, some arguments are made weaker by doing so, since appealing to neuroscience is unnecessary at best and hand-waving at worst.

Figure out what your point is and talk about it. I'm guessing it actually has little to do with neuroscience directly.

Visualization is Genius, Not Juvenile

Visualization is Genius, Not Juvenile | Visual Thinking | Scoop.it

Cool news, you guys! Word about the power of adding visual components to traditionally picture-less processes is making its way around, albeit slowly. Recent examples include Springpad, an Evernote-ish mobile app that makes digital notebooks and personal project planning smarter with imagery. And I just learned that Facebook has chalkboards, white boards and writable glass installed throughout its offices to encourage visual note-taking among its employees.
