Alternate Album Covers Inspired by the Experience of Listening to Music

Alternate Album Covers Inspired by the Experience of Listening to Music | Visual*~*Revolution | Scoop.it

The best album covers reveal something about the records they decorate. But graphic designer Simon C. Page, who has made sleeves for artists including Ministry of Sound and the Crystal Method, takes that connection even further with a series he calls Musically Inspired Album Covers. “This year I have been asked to create more and more album covers, which I love doing, but I noticed that the ones which I wanted to work on most were the ones where I had been inspired or moved by the music.”

Love how they are still calling them ' album covers'!

Try Harder? No-Try Different!

Try Harder? No-Try Different! | Visual*~*Revolution | Scoop.it

'Try different' from Seth Godin's blog...

The usual mantra is to 'try harder'. Trying harder is impossible when you're already trying as hard as you can. But you can always try different.

Years ago, I was creating trivia questions for a product we built for Prodigy. We had a 99% accuracy rate in doing the questions. Which was great, except there were 1800 questions in a batch, which meant 18 wrong each time, which was totally and completely unacceptable. These were honest mistakes, made by smart people working as hard as they could.

No matter how hard we tried, we couldn't do better than 99%. So we switched our system completely and did it in a totally different way. Same number of people, same number of hours, 100% accuracy.

If it's not working, harder might not be the answer.

Created by artist Chris Burden, Metropolis II is a complex, large-scale kinetic sculpture modeled after a fast-paced modern city. Secret and Sacred Places to Find Books: A Video | Visual*~*Revolution | Scoop.it

A beautiful video about Brazenhead Books, a secret bookstore that’s been tucked away in Michael Seidenberg’s apartment on the Upper East Side ever since the rent for his original retail space in Brooklyn was quadrupled. “I wouldn’t have thought I want to have a bookshop in a location no one knows about.” But Brazen says it’s a continuation of being the kind of bookseller he wants to be—not on the street, not at book fairs, but inside, the shelves lined with first editions, knickknacks, and, one hopes, a cat.

This is What Happens When You Give Thousands of Stickers to Thousands of Kids

This is What Happens When You Give Thousands of Stickers to Thousands of Kids | Visual*~*Revolution | Scoop.it

Every child's fantasy-every parent's nightmare!

In a surprisingly simple yet ridiculously amazing installation for the Queensland Gallery of Modern Ar, artist Yayoi Kusama constructed a large domestic environment, painting every wall, chair, table, piano, and household decoration a brilliant white, effectively serving as a giant white canvas. Over the course of two weeks, the museum’s smallest visitors were given thousands upon thousands of colored dot stickers and were invited to collaborate in the transformation of the space, turning the house into a vibrantly mottled explosion of color.
