Just as the 1996 Netscape IPO inaugurated the dotcom mania of the 90s, so Facebook's imminent IPO will trigger a hysteria with the social web. But the most interesting question isn't whether Facebook is actually worth $100 billion or how many billions of dollars Mark Zuckerberg will personally bank -- but whether or not Facebook really will make the world a better place for its close to a billion users.

After studying sculpting at the Wimbledon School of Art in the UK where Joe is originally from. He went on to work for a few years in the film industry for directors such as Terry Gilliam and for companies such as Disney and Miramax as a film concept designer and sculptor in both London and Prague. He now lives in Brooklyn and continues to draw draw draw!

Combining 19th century cabinet card portraiture with superheroes, movie monsters, and other idols, artist Alex Gross has created an army of whimsical trading cards with a vintage feel. Stoic figures from the past have been reincarnated as the stars of Superman, Star Trek, Star Wars, and other cult faves. Gross doesn’t just slap a painted costume on each individual, though. He transforms them into lively characters by creating new landscapes for them to dwell in, complete with props and other quirky touches. Delight in Gross’ geeky menagerie past the break.

The smart classroom requires a more methodic approach that factors in the design of the basic shell, the teacher's space, and the students' independent and collaborative work areas.Schools that ignore this step, said Issac Herskowitz, director of New York-based Touro College's instructional technology program, will wind up with smart classrooms that fall short of their goals. "Designing classrooms for today's learners requires a different approach than what's been traditionally employed in K-12 settings," said Herskowitz.
