Six interesting examples of gamification in ecommerce

Six interesting examples of gamification in ecommerce | Visual Intelligence | Scoop.it

The video game industry is worth more than $100bn worldwide, so it's no surprise that businesses are using gamification to try to boost sales.

The idea is that by adding gaming elements to the sales process, such as small challenges and rewards, you can increase customer loyalty and advocacy.

As in every game or competition, the participants have to be motivated by a worthwhile reward. It’s also true that the greater the reward, the more you can ask people to do to earn the reward.

I'm about halfway through. I am trying to see whether and how it would fit into our nascent ecommerce business. I don't see it yet, but the course has helped me to see in a gamified way.

Re-Enabled — The Magazine

Re-Enabled — The Magazine | Visual Intelligence | Scoop.it
David Bennett's insight:

"Steven Aquino, who works with special needs children and is himself visually impaired, describes in The Magazine how accessibility technologies like VoiceOver and Guided Access built into iOS “let those with disabilities use their devices with as much wonder and enjoyment as the fully abled.” Calling iOS “nothing short of a godsend,” Aquino notes that with iPad, a cognitively delayed student is able to “tap and swipe like a pro” and even master multitasking gestures without any demoing or prompting. He concludes: “Every time I pick up my iPhone or iPad, I feel extremely fortunate that I’m living in this time.”"

How to clear your Facebook search history

How to clear your Facebook search history

Can you lose your Facebook Page because you didn't follow the rules? Facebook would never shut down a Page because they ran a contest and did something like... oh, I don't know, maybe offer to donate a dollar to charity for every Like their Page gets... right?

I'm constantly seeing people saying they've never heard of a Page being shut down for violating a rule and that Facebook doesn't enforce most of them anyway. Well, here are two examples of some popular Pages that were shut down by Facebook for some seemingly innocent contest rule violations. Think it's okay to do it just because you see the big dogs doing it? Think again.

So I created one for the elearning showcase in Wellington on the 21st February. It was pretty easy and look forward to sharing on twitter and taking and sharing photos during the event. Only draw back is the Americanisation of the date. I like the fact I can have all of my events on the app and can share via social media during them. It's a great tool and really easy to use. Here's the one for the elearning showcase http://my.yapp.us/J9Y49R.
