Dissecting a Trailer: The Parts of the Film That Make the Cut

Dissecting a Trailer: The Parts of the Film That Make the Cut | Visual & digital texts | Scoop.it
How scenes from five of the nine best picture nominees were reassembled to promote the films.
Jon C's insight:

Fascinating interactive guide to how trailers are structured, showing how each scene relates to the order of the film - classic films trailers follow the chronology of the film, while others are more 'teaser' like, and  jump all over the film, presenting a taste of the ideas, rather than the storyline. Excellent interactive visuals let you see how the trailers are put together in this article from the Guardian.

Dangle - Short Film

"This is a short film from the BFi called Dangle"

There are so many ways this short film could be used. There are many teacher resources available using this film as a prompt to discuss story structure and the use of the visual to determine what is going on. Use it to help children understand how  to "show not tell" in their writing through creating great imagery using precise vocabulary to relate meaning.
