Green Roof and Green Wall Technology

Green Roof and Green Wall Technology | Visioning for Business | Scoop.it
Green roofs and green walls reduce the amount of heat that enters the house in the summer and reduces the amount of heat that leaves the house in the winter. A green roof can double or triple the lifespan of the roof by protecting from UV rays and acid rain degradation. Again, a green roof…
Rob McCarty's insight:

This is how we things were shaping up on the Turner Gateway project a decade ago. All of this cool green building technology was available then, but we were called hippies and other even less attractive terms for investigating it. Way to go people, we are making headway! This is the way of the future, get on board.

An insider's story of the global attack on climate science

An insider's story of the global attack on climate science | Visioning for Business | Scoop.it
A recent headline – Failed doubters trust leaves taxpayers six-figure loss – marked the end of a four-year epic saga of secretly-funded climate denial, harassment of scientists and tying-up of valuable…...
Rob McCarty's insight:

Honestly WE HAVE TO start have sane discussions about this topic. We all talk about having a vision lead business, but what about the things that are OUTSIDE of our businesses and our vision. It's as if science, that which has created most of the innovation of the past until now, is only valid if IT SERVES our desires. I want to call for a sane discussion (note NOTE DEBATE) on the topic. HOW can we move foward, and create a vision that includes big picture items we can't possibly personally understand.

The Billionaires Paying to Make You Doubt Climate Change…And the Scientist Taking them to Court

The Billionaires Paying to Make You Doubt Climate Change…And the Scientist Taking them to Court | Visioning for Business | Scoop.it
Leading climatologist Michael Mann has been cleared to bring a defamation law suit against a libertarian think tank he says falsely accused him of misrepresenting data.  He argues this think tank forms part of a “well funded” campaign to silence and discredit the “entire environmental movement”.   Al Jazeera reports: On Thursday, a judge for […]
Rob McCarty's insight:

Seriously folks, if scientists are bullied into telling us what we WANT to hear, what is that saying for science. Also we really need to look at who's REALLY benefiting from climate change denial. Are the scientist, making decent, but not landmark money, or the billionaire families who's entire empires rely on it. I hate to think that ANYONE is making these decisions (for the WORLD) based on their economic status, but this is pretty pathetic.

What I learned from a week on food stamps: Paul Ryan couldn’t be any more wrong

What I learned from a week on food stamps: Paul Ryan couldn’t be any more wrong | Visioning for Business | Scoop.it
Republicans have their sights set on food-stamp cuts that would devastate lower-income Americans
Rob McCarty's insight:

I have to say, this article pretty much articulates the problem that exists. When you start peeling back the onion. I still rarely ever get a real answer, that being this completely unrealistic view that if you just force people out, the jobs are just sitting there waiting for them... at say... Walmart.. .that won't pay them enough to surive without the program, which is STUPID. AND FACE THE FACT there is real unemployment because we don't have, and will likely never have a 100% need for all players in the economy. I am NOT taking a swipe at Republicans (or Democrats for that matter) here, I just want a common sense compromise that doesn't continue to support an ideology that there are jobs for everyone, OR at least to be honest that no matter what we do, until we fix some systemic problems (minimum wage, etc) the jobs for those impoverished or undereducated don't even pay for monthly rent or groceries.

There are so many unbelieveable contradictions in how this all works and who supports what, it is mind numbing.
