Empathic Education: A Call to Arms

Empathic Education: A Call to Arms | Digital Learning, Technology, Education | Scoop.it

The term Empathic Education was first introduced by best-selling author and visionary, Jeremy Rifkin in his book, The Empathic Civilization. Rifkin further defined it in an article in the May, 2010 edition of The Chronicle of Higher Education.

Empathic Education is a belief that our schools must help children aspire to be collaborative and cooperative human beings who interact in a world where energy sources are diminishing, commerce has become global and the rise of social media has made our "neighbor" not just someone who lives down the block, but also across the globe.

Do you dare to dream?

Since our childhood we all know how to dream. Asleep and awake. Thanks to the power of our imagination we believe we are capable of achieving anything we can dream of. However, as we grow older we lose this wonderful ability we'll later need to be creative, to innovate, to change our lives and to transform our organizations. We invite you to dare to dream again, to challenge your comfort zone, and to enjoy the pleasure of turning your dreams into reality.
Do you dare to dream?

Think Jar Collective's curator insight, February 27, 2013 12:16 PM

We learn about great ideas and we learn the names of the creative geniuses who created them, but we are seldom taught about how they got the ideas. My teachers focused on their discoveries rather than on the mental processes, attitudes, work habits, behavior and beliefs that enabled creative geniuses to be capable of looking at the same things as the rest of us and seeing something different.

Following are twelve things about creative thinking that I learned during my lifetime of work in the field of creative thinking that I wished I had been taught when I was a student but was not.
