Using Moodle: How to add an image slider to Clean theme using CSS3

Here is what you need to do:

 

1. Download and save the attached flower-sprite.jpg image to your desktop.

2,  Login to your Moodle 2.5 test site

3. Select the Clean theme

4. Click Clean theme's custom setting page from the links under Site Administration > Appearance > Themes in the side block

5. Now Add or drag-n-drop the flower-sprite.jpg into the image loader.

6. Next add the following CSS3 to the Custom CSS box provided in the Clean settings page:

 

a.logo {

width:100%;

height:110px;

position:relative;

animation: imageSlider 5s infinite ease-in-out;

}

 

@keyframes imageSlider {

from {background-position: 0 0;}

to {background-position: -1024px 0;}

}

 

7. SAVE Settiings

The myth that today's students need a completely different set of skills does not really hold well. Students, spanning different centuries, have always needed the same things. These are things that are germane to the human intellect.  We should not let our digitally-focused environment cloud the truth that emotional and social skills are just as important as all those techy skills we have been chewing on for so long now.

 

Don't take me wrong, digital skills are indispensable for FACILITATING a better learning but they are only part of the picture, a nod in a connected circle whose whole perform better than any individual part alone. Analytically speaking, when you vet the skills that are over emphasized as being crucial for succeeding in our information society you would realize that they are nothing new. Critical thinking, social networking, collaboration, synthesis, evaluation have always been the sublime goals of any education.

Branching allows users to have a unique experience based on their interaction within an activity. It is a great way to simulate decision-making scenarios of real life events. In today’s post, I’m going to discuss techniques for designing branching exercises and suggest a few activities in Moodle to use for building them.

 

Building the Exercise in Moodle

 

Once you finish designing the activity, you are ready to build it. This is when your scenario will come to life. Two of my favorite activities in Moodle are Lesson and SCORM. Both are excellent choices for adding branching into your online course. Let’s take a look at each of them.

 

Lesson

 

The Lesson activity allows you to create question pages with automated feedback, and you can use it to remediate or incorporate conditional branching. Let’s say you want to make a scenario in your course so that students can apply a concept covered in the current week’s lesson plan. You would start by creating a Lesson activity. Then, you would provide the students with the scenario and question. Each time the student answers the question it will branch/jump them to a different page in the lesson, each having its own result. This means there will be multiple learning paths.

 

When using the Lesson activity in Moodle:

 

- Hide the lesson menu on your pages. This will completely immerse the students into the activity and force them to make decisions, rather than jumping to different pages using the menu.

- Enable a time limit when timing is critical to complete the exercise. It can also make the activity feel more like a game, which can add a level of engagement.

- Display the progress bar to students if you want them to know how they are progressing.

- Allow retakes so that students can try again, experience the different paths, and learn from their mistakes.

El liderazgo en la educación guarda una amplia relación con su aceptación por partes de los integrantes de la comunidad educativa. El maestro debe intercambiar el modelo de autoridad escolar en la educación tradicional, por el del líder aceptado por su grupo, en este caso los alumnos. Este sería una de las transformaciones de la educación del futuro. Como dice Osho sobre el maestro, conceptualmente el liderazgo es el arte de influir en sus alumnos, para que trabajen con ilusión, pasión, emoción y creatividad.
