Self Determination Theory and the Facilitation of Intrinsic Motivation, Social Development, and Well-Being

Via Lynnette Van Dyke
Amy Melendez's insight:

"Knowledge concerning the nutriments essential for positive motivation and experience and, in turn, for enhanced performance and well-being has broad significance. It is relevant to parents and educators concerned with cognitive and personality development because it speaks to the conditions that promote the assimilation of both infor- mation and behavioral regulations. It is also relevant to managers who want to facilitate motivation and commit- ment on the job, and it is relevant to psychotherapists and health professionals because motivation is perhaps the critical variable in producing maintained change. Thus, by attending to the relative presence or deprivation of supports for basic psychological needs, practitioners are better able to diagnose sources of alienation versus engagement, and facilitate both enhanced human achievements and well-being. iPads in Education hits 500, 000 page views! Thank You Readers! | Digital Learning, Technology, Education | Scoop.it

I'm not generally one to toot my own horn very often but I thought this was a good enough reason to do so. I started this journey back on April 14, 2011 thinking that this iPad thing just might catch on in education. Little did I know back then how big that impact would turn out to be!.

Thanks to all of you faithful readers for spending a small portion of your day going over the content that I curate in this space. I'm always amazed at the fantastic work that educators are doing with this tool in schools around the world and try to highlight it here.

Thanks for joining me on this journey!

Cheers

Moodle 2.5 Course Reports Beginner Tutorial

Moodle 2.5 Course Reports Beginner Tutorial | Digital Learning, Technology, Education | Scoop.it

Moodle course reports beginner tutorial. Course reports page can be a very powerful tracking tool in Moodle. It allows instructors to view course logs, user activity reports, and course statistics based on users, times, or activity modules.

An instructor might use reports to gauge how many students opened an article he or she wanted them to read before lecture. More importantly, it can show who did not open the article. The night before the lecture, however, you can send out an email to all the students that did not complete the reading to remind them. This feature is helpful because it will not email the students that have already completed the activity. You can also use reports to gauge when students are logging into your course the most. For instance, say Sunday always has twice as many views as Thursday. You might adjust the time you post material or require the completion of an assignment to better fit the activity of your students.
