WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE!! | Corey Jahnke Certified Go-Giver Coach | Digital Learning, Technology, Education | Scoop.it

Honestly, the hardest part of success is figuring out who is holding you back.  The answer is ALWAYS you.  YOU are the one who decides who you are allowing to speak into you.  The closer I get to reaching my goals, the more obvious this is becoming.

Amy Melendez's insight:

From the post:

"The rest of the evening I was captivated by the thought that we don’t get to decide who will pick us for a role model.  But, we do get to decide what kind of role model we will be.  Do we use words like “horrible, betrayal, awful, and disgusting”?  Or, do we use words like “WONDERFUL, BRILLIANT, INCREDIBLE, or AMAZING”? - See more at: http://gogivercoach.com/coreyjahnke/2014/06/watch-your-language/#sthash.kwaSpxfS.dpuf

Moodle.net: 4 Featured Courses

Moodle.net: 4 Featured Courses | Digital Learning, Technology, Education | Scoop.it

Moodle.nethas a feature that allows you to sort results by a couple of different criteria. The one that caught my attention most recently is tied to a “badge” called Featured. There are four courses listed as featured at the moment: for download, Pilgrimage (a religious studies course) and Travel and Tourism LearnNet (focused on the intricacies of planning and executing travel. Both courses are for Middle/High School. Two are also listed for enrollment, they are Teaching with Moodle (learnMoodle) and Hands-on Moodle Quiz (by OpenLearn)

Pilgrimage is also available for review at Mt. Orange: http://school.demo.moodle.net/course/view.php?id=49

Get both downloadable courses here: http://goo.gl/03sTaL (and if that doesn’t work, just load Moodle.net and set your “sort by” filter to “featured”. Both enrollable courses are at http://goo.gl/2E6Gx3.

Learning is Connecting

Learning is Connecting | Digital Learning, Technology, Education | Scoop.it

Cisco’s CEO, John Chambers, was right, but not the way most people understood it at the time. As everything gets connected, we have to re-think our ideas about education and training. While education over the internet may not be as pervasive as email today, learning over the internet is massive. Learning is happening on every social media platform. It’s just not being controlled by educators and trainers. For example, there are how-to videos on YouTube, learning-oriented chats on Twitter, study groups on Facebook, and professional communities on LinkedIn. Google Plus may soon become the biggest social learning platform, as it integrates with collaborative documents, and real-time video Hangouts that can automatically be recorded and made available via YouTube.

Amy Melendez's curator insight, June 1, 2014 1:20 PM

"We’re in a good place.

Although there are some challenges in the industry, it’s a great time to be an instructional designer. The key seems to be to find a company or clients that have the types of projects you enjoy most. Self-marketing is also important. Even if you have a full-time corporate gig, you need to actively market and promote yourself constantly. This not only gets you more respect within your company, but if you have a highly visible public profile you also are building name recognition - which never hurts if you happen to get laid off from your corporate job, or just get fed up and want to make the jump "

21 brilliant resources for up-skilling learning designers

21 brilliant resources for up-skilling learning designers | Digital Learning, Technology, Education | Scoop.it

We, like many out there, are of the view that, though most learning designers possess good levels of skills around the traditional training (formal learning) area, their skill levels fall short around the informal or social learning areas. This is mainly because designing informal and social learning experiences for workplaces demands a diverse and unique set of qualities. Today, while we are in the midst of up-skilling our learning designers, we set out on a quick journey to revisit our most precious resources on this subject in order to see how to leverage these in our up-skilling exercise.
