Ouch! I'll save a discussion of fair use for another post. What inspired me to write today was the question of whether I construe the work I post here as important.

Yesterday morning I decided to record my Blue Mars Mobile Avatar in various settings throughout the day. The idea came as I was stopping at a grocery story on my way into work, so I launched the program and logged in. To my surprise and delight there was a glitch in the software and my avatar rezzed with no shirt. Delete the scoop?

I've noticed a certain ambivalence about influence in the Second Life community. On one hand, there is definitely a core group of people who tend to be out in front on emerging issues, inspire cross-blog coverage of the topics they write about, and have large and responsive social networks. On the other hand, we disparage "SLebrity" and recoil at the idea of intentionally trying to become influential. Delete the scoop?

Blue Mars Mobile released an update last week that lets you select another person's avatar to join yours in the virtual environment. The avatar's owner doesn't need to be present or give permission. For instance, here's an image of Skate Foss dancing on my laptop after I rezzed her avatar into my augmented reality scene. Delete the scoop?
