After completing this course you should be able to:
(1) understand the format and features of essaysm research papers and reports; (2) use reference management tools for managing citations and reference list in APA style;and (3) write scholarly papers.

Introduction to Academic Writing is 4-week intensive hands-on writing workshop. The course will focus on writing college papers. Students will be engaged in reading, discussing, and writing scholarly papers. They will also learn to cite and add references according to APA style.

Learning to share is a very important aspect of learning. Posting your reflections for everyone to learn from during a workshop is very important. Connecting with the facilitators to add your feedback limits the scope and lessons learned to 1 or 2 people. If you missed a few sessions of a class and wish to continue collaborating, which I encourage everyone to do, please add your thoughts on a blog and share it with the world. This way you don't limit your audience and everyone benefits. However, don't forget to share the link with the class participants so they can learn and respond.

Participants will work on each of the 5 chapters and the references, table of contents and appendices. First draft will be ready for submission by the end of the course.

This is a 12-week hands-on workshop on writing the first draft of your doctoral dissertation. Participants will work on each of the 5 chapters and the references, table of contents and appendices. The chapters will be reviewed by Dr. Nellie Deutsch. The participants will receive comments within 1 week after completing the chapter so that the first draft will be ready for submission by the end of the course. The cost for the 12-week workshop is $20 a week plus 5% for PayPal charges. The total tuition is $252.

Active learning means learning in a way that engages the learner with the content and other people. The other people may be the teacher, fellow students, or people outside the course. Active learning is a workshop that requires a change in attitude about what it means to learn. Both teachers and students will benefit from taking the course. Global Citizens Network (GCN) "works to promote peace, justice and respect through cross-cultural understanding and global cooperation". The organization is involved in making this world a better place. The organization's philosophy statement is clear: "The peoples of the world are one people, enriched by individual differences, united by the common bond of humanity. The diversity of the Global Community is its greatest strength; understanding and respect are its greatest gifts".

We can make a difference by helping spread the word when people are mistreated as in the case of AstraZeneca, a drug company that misinformed the public about the dangers involved in prescribing Seroque to the young children, the elderly for Alzheimer's disease, and others.

In this class, we will discuss some of the things we can do to educate the public on global citizenship. I'm looking forward to seeing you taking the first step by joining the class.
