Unknown Mexico by Carl Lumholtz, two volumes. I found these accounts one of the most fascinating I have ever read. Lumholtz travelled around the Sierra Madre almost 100 years ago, collecting samples for museums (including human skulls!!!). His biases come through, some of which are the same today, others which highlight how much has changed in perceptions of indigenous cultures. (Rachel Biel)
