This record was released in 1970.
Have you already read The City And The Stars, The Deep Range, A Fall of Moondust and Rendezvous With Rama by Arthur C.Clarke ? You will have a great time reading these four SF novels, that were published by the Book Club Associates in 1978. The book, which is in good condition, is a hardback with a paper jacket containing 615 pages of great science fiction, as always with Arthur C.Clarke. The fore edge is white except on the top where it is pink/red There is a short biography of the author, with a photograph, on the inside of the jacket. Did you know that he belonged to the Royal Astronomical Society ? It probably helps to be a science fiction writer ! ;-) The pages are in very good condition. Dimensions of the book : 23.6 cm x 16.2 cm = 9.29 x 6.37 Weight (without protection and packaging) : 890 g = 1.96 lb
This French metal box was made in the 1930s to store some roasted chicory root, which is a coffee substitude particularly popular in Belgium and in France. It is in good condition for its age, but looks a bit old, which is normal for a 1930s item which has been used a lot. There are a few scratches here and there, and the lid is not attached to the box anymore (please see last photo). However, it could be repaired with a small piece of iron. It measures 15 cm x 12.5 cm x 9 cm = 5.90 x 4.92 x 3.54 It weighs 191 g = 0.42 lb More photographs of this box, including all sides of the box and the lid, can be seen in this article: http://www.retrofanattic.com/2016/06/french-1930s-chicoree-box.html You can also read in this article a short history of the chicory as coffee substitute, and some vintage French (or Belgium?) adverts for this very popular drink. Here is a great vintage annual for girls, in very good, if not excellent condition ! There are a few discreet spots on the front cover, situation on, and just below the word annual. Apart from that, the front and back covers are in very good condition. The spine is also in very good condition. The bottom corners of pages 67, 69 and 71 are a bit dog-eared. No scribbles, no tears. Now lets take a look inside the book ! :-) 114 pages of stories, comics, documentaries (about animals, flowers... or like Its a girls world, which shows some portraits of girls and women who have chosen an unusual career -unusual for those days), photos (in black and white and in colour), craft, sports (portraits of famous tennis players...), pop music, tests and quizzes... and so much more ! This beautiful Art Deco amber glass dressing table set is composed of a tray, a pot with its lid, a small dish and two candle holders. How about offering your children some excellent quality music ? Cynthia Glover and John Lawrenson are exceptional singer, and they are accompanied by a great childrens choir. This is a record to listen to, or to sing along with. The text on the back side of the jacket says : Because singing (and movement) are the happiest and most natural forms of expression, your children will show their joy in listening to these songs by accompanying the youngsters on the record with voices, hands, heads, stamping feet -for this is essentially a joining in record. Good news ! I have one in my fantastic attic, which is in very good condition. The jacket is in very good condition, a bit creased here and there and a small damage on the bottom left corner. The white inner jacket is in very good condition too, a bit creased with a few spots on one of the bottom corners (please see last photograph). The record shows one or two very light traces, which look like finger traces, but is in very good condition. I do not listen to the records that I sell so I can not guarantee that in spite of its very good apparent condition, the sound of this record is perfect. This record was released in 1967 by MFP (Music For Pleasure), a label of EMI Goup. Catalogue ref : MFP 1192. Very rare South African release. Other copies of this record that are found on the market are made in Great Britain. Not only a wonderful nursery rhymes record that will soon become one of your childrens favourites, but a great piece for collectors! There are 21 songs on side A and 20 on side B. This record can be played on a mono record player (if you are a collector and have one) or a stereo player. A few more photographs of this record and some YouTube videos of the songs are on this article : http://www.retrofanattic.com/2016/03/my-own-nursery-rhyme-record.html ;
Many more pictures of this telephone, including details, are visible in this article : http://www.retrofanattic.com/2016/01/1961-fisher-price-chatter-phone.html This Fisher Price friendly chatter phone is not the very first Chatter Telephone Fisher Price has produced as it does not have the wooden base but a plastic base, but nevertheless this is an original one produced in 1961. The string is the original one. When you pull it around the house, the eyes move perfectly well up and down with that typical chattering sound that contributed to make this toy famous and loved by toddlers and children. The bells works well too when you dial a number, however the rotary dial does not come back to its normal position after turning it, so you have to do it manually. On some of these telephones, the wheels show that they have been rolled on hard surfaces (garden gravel for example) but this one must have been rolled on very soft surfaces like carpets or plastic floors, as the wheels are in excellent condition for their age. The photos show that it is a bit scruffy and dirty here and there, for example on the left of the mouth, where the sticker is a bit damaged. The red paint on the nose is a bit scratched. This Chatter Phone was made in UK. On the whole, it is in good condition for its age. Dimensions : Length : 16 cm approx = 6.29 approx Width (wheel to wheel at the back of the phone) : also 16 cm approx = 6.29 approx Weight : 370 g = 0.81 lb This item will be carefully protected in bubble wrap and sent : - UK : Royal Mail signed for (tracking number and signature on delivery), first or second class. - Other countries : Royal Mail International Signed For (tracking number and signature on delivery) The price of the postage includes the postal service and the packaging (box + protections).
I suggest that the murder was committed in the kitchen by Col. Mustard with... We all love to play Cluedo! Will you be Miss Scarlett and start the game first? This is the 1972 edition of the 1965 version of the famous and fun game Cluedo. It is complete and in very good condition. The game is composed of a board, a dice and its pot, 6 cards for the characters, 1 envelope for the murder cards, 9 cards for the rooms, 6 cards for the weapons, the rules, colour plastic tokens, plastic weapons, and 34 detective notes sheets. 16 of these sheets come from this game, and 18 (including some which are still attached) come from another 1972 Cluedo game that I can not propose to you because it is not complete. All pieces and cards are in very good condition, except the rope which shows some signs of age at one end. The board is in excellent condition. The box shows signs of age. Dimensions of the game : 50.5 cm x 28 cm = 19.88 x 11.02 You can see many more pictures of this game (including the rope and the signs of age on the box) in this article: http://www.retrofanattic.com/2016/06/vintage-1972-cluedo.html This item will be carefully protected in bubble wrap and sent : - UK : Royal Mail signed for (tracking number and signature on delivery), first or second class. - Other countries : Royal Mail International Signed For (tracking number and signature on delivery) The price of the postage includes the postal service and the packaging (box + protections).
Travel clocks were very popular in the old days as people didnt have any mobile phones to wake them up. They very often looked like cases that you opened to place them on your nightstand. Once closed, the clock was protected inside its case and could travel in a handbag, a suitcase... It is made of plastic and metal. This clock works very well although the alarm needle tends to move with the hour needles when you change the time (so it is better to turn the knob clockwise, it avoids this problem), and the alarm does not ring for a very long time (10 to 15 seconds maximum). The last photo shows the users guide. The clocks case is in excellent condition. The cardboard box is in average condition. Dimensions : 8 cm x 7.5 cm = 3.14 x 2.95 Weight of the clock + its cardboard box : 142 g Made in Japan. This item will be very carefully protected in bubble wrap and sent : - UK : Royal Mail signed for (tracking number and signature on delivery), first or second class. - Other countries : Royal Mail International signed for (tracking number and signature on delivery) The price of the postage includes the postal service and the packaging (box + protections).
