Prices Revealed for AMIRA, ARRI's Cheaper ENG-Style ALEXA-Sensor 2K/HD/200FPS Camera

"At the IBC show in Amsterdam back in September, ARRI made a huge splash unveiling the AMIRA, which has the same 16:9 sensor as some of the higher-end ALEXA cinema cameras. While the AMIRA is an ENG-style camera marketed towards documentary filmmakers by the company, the possibilities for its use certainly don’t stop there. The promise of ALEXA image quality in a cheaper rental package is certainly enticing, but what if you want to own one of your own? Click through for some pricing information that has finally been revealed.

As a refresher, here are the specs, followed by the product demo from ARRI:"

Nikon Hacker Up The bitrate For Nikon Cameras up to 1080 @64mbps - DIY Photography | VIDISM | Scoop.it
It is a fairly known fact that Canon videographers can magically “upgrade” their cameras using the Magic Lantern custom firmware. This firmware gives the camera some nice control features, but I suspect that this firmware is usually installed for the better video it provides (raw video, dual ISO, better dynamic range and so on). Sadly, [...]

Revolutionary Metabones Speed Booster Makes Your Lenses Wider, Brighter, and Sharper. By Dave Kendricken (03:54)

Posted by Dave Kendricken on January 14, 2013 •

"There’s more than one way to get a lens on a camera it shouldn’t naturally fit, particularly when adaptation has to go beyond mere lens mount disparity and extends all the way to major sensor size differences. Of course, in approximately none such case does the adapter getting the job done actually widen field of view, improve clarity and sharpness, and increase exposure levels by up to one full stop. In fact, to expect as much (and all in one device) would seem to equate to madness — especially if such a device supports electronic lens control. This is not the short and skinny of the new Tom Cruise sci-fi/action film, but that of the Metabones Speed Booster. The adapter not only mounts your Canon full frame 50mm f/1.8 lens, for instance, to your Sony FS100 — but also turns it into a sharper 35mm f/1.2 in the process.

Despite being called the Speed Booster, this device does a lot impressive optical and electronic things to the benefit of any attempting to bridge the gap between, say, a strong Canon stills lens collection and the modern Super35-sized video cameras being proliferated by Sony. Metabones is also offering several other variations and combinations on their site, including adaptation from Leica R lenses to Fuji X cameras. Below is a video review from Bryant Naro which accompanies his writeup on the Speed Booster, which also has this to say:"

"Don't look at image quality here... this is a dirty debayer with no black calibration, no offset correction and no processing on a special 21 stop DR Chart from DSC.

This is from a prototype " Frankie " Epic camera with a really, really expensive engineering lens that really, really sucks at taking pretty pictures, on a non-sealed lens mount ( hence the light bloom ) but it gives you a bit of an idea on just how powerful all your cameras are about to become.
