17 Examples of Fabulous Explainer Videos

17 Examples of Fabulous Explainer Videos | Social Video Success Strategies | Scoop.it

Think you need a professional production team to create a worthwhile explainer video? Think again. Compiling an explainer video doesn't have to be more complicated than putting together a slide deck in a Powerpoint presentation. You decide what to say, find some relevant graphics to jazz things up, and record a voiceover.

Explainer videos should generally be 30-90 seconds in length, which translates into a written script of around 200 words or less in most cases. To get a good feel for crafting your own video, start by gathering some inspiration from brands doing it right. You’re bound to find something that resonates with you as a good example for brainstorming your own.

20 Fab Ways to Actually Tell Your Stories On Social Media

Karen Dietz's curator insight, February 22, 11:31 AM

In all my years of curating, I've looked at tons of articles promoting storytelling on social media. The problem? The posts are not really about storytelling. They are about photo sharing, 140-character opinions, posting links, and anything else you can think of. There's been mention of your collective tweets/posts/photos adding up to "your story" -- but that's a vague notion at best. None of this is really helpful.

Finally Alfred Lua from Buffer has written an intelligent piece that really does talk about storytelling -- yes, real stories -- and how to do it on different social media platforms. Yay!

Go grab these ideas and start having a field day sharing your stories.

Virtual Reality (VR) storytelling is a hot topic today, and this article talks about the latest research in immersive storytelling.

It's one thing to use VR at IKEA or Lowe's home improvement stores to test out furniture and designs. It's quite another to share a story in VR. This post shares insights gained from recent research about what works and what doesn't in VR storytelling.

Stuff like:

  1. What is the audience's role in VR? It's fascinating what they discover!
  2. How does the position you stand in and the engagement you have in VR impact the effect of the story?
  3. What do visual constraits have on the story experience?

VR is a medium that truly changes storytelling. There are lots of opportunities and lots of pitfalls/dangers. Read this article to keep up to date on this trend.

Stop Guessing: Here’s a Social Media Strategy That Works

Stop Guessing: Here’s a Social Media Strategy That Works | Social Video Success Strategies | Scoop.it
Everyone makes it sound so easy. Post a few times on Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn, and the traffic will pour in.

In reality, it’s not easy. And like with anything else, you need to spend some time learning how to do it properly.

I assure you it’s possible. My nutrition blog case study received over 9,000 visits from Facebook alone last month, despite being a new blog.

But as I noted in that second-month update, it could be doing even better. My friend Mike, who is running the site, is a really smart guy, but it’s still taking him some time to really understand how to use social media to its fullest potential.

You should care about social media traffic because it is one of the biggest referrers of traffic at your disposal. In early 2015, social media traffic made up 31% of overall traffic.

It's Time to Take the Brand Out of Branded Content

It's Time to Take the Brand Out of Branded Content | Social Video Success Strategies | Scoop.it

Quality storytelling and narrative matter more than ever, and must be first and foremost in your mind when approaching “branded” content. The quotes are intentional. It is an opportune time to drop the word “branded” from that phrase and from your vocabulary.

Content is content. Good content is good content. If a story is moving, no one is going to care that it’s brought to you by a brand. Rather, they’re going to be happy the brand brought it to them. And by the same token, content that is annoying is now amplified rather than ignored (because no one can resist a good call-out) and can be more harmful to a brand than ever....

Janet Vasil's insight:
If you tell a compelling.story that resonates with your audience and is not a self serving sales pitch, it won't matter that a brand is telling them a good story.
