It is more critical than ever before that anyone doing SEO work be concentrating efforts on high value content that viewers will consume and act upon when there's a reasonable 'call to action' in the content.  Social buzz, video marketing, content marketing is what SEs are recognizing, while overuse of keyword phrases (especially used as anchor links) have dropped in value.  The way forward on basic SEO (metas and on-page content) is to break down phrases into single words that are used a number of times throughout the content (top five single words will be strung together by SEs to determine phrases).
