Jocelyn Mayr's insight:

I reblogged this because I thought it was interesting how more and more gaming consoles are enabling users to communicate with others through voice calling or video calling. Skype as a major online calling company, to be put into a gaming console is huge, because it would definately grab the attention of more gamers and rather than sitting on your own, you can socialize with others whilst playing games. Once again this is an improvement that can definately be used for other future devices or gaming consoles and when designing new video games aswell the ability to communicate with others during a video game.

Sony Unveils its Vision for the Future of Video Games with PlayStation 4

Sony Unveils its Vision for the Future of Video Games with PlayStation 4 | Video games & The Future | Scoop.it
Just a couple of hours ago, Sony Computer Entertainment began streaming its worldwide presentation being held in New York.
Jocelyn Mayr's insight:

This is actually quite a surprising article because each time Sony or Microsoft creates a new console they are just adding extra features. Soon the whole world be playing games even those with bad access to internet. With other gaming consoles becoming more affordable because of all the new releases, gaming is becoming easier to acess and buy. Although game developing companies do this to compete against the other gaming companies, my opinion is that they should save the money to create something that does not need to be updated something remarakable that no other company can do. Although this is a good article telling society the thoughts on the new gaming consoles it has its negatives with how it will affect society in the near future.

An interesting article discussing all of Sony's new feature ideas for their newest console the PS4. Sony believe this is the future of gaming. They have over-the-top graphics, motion control, voice recognition, touch pad on controllers. Who knows what they'll end up adding on the PS5 in 10 or-so years time.

Positive Effects of Video Games

It is not true, that video games encourage anti-social elements and violence. Rather they affect the players positively. Read more to find out the positive effects of Video games.
Jocelyn Mayr's insight:

I believe this article is great because it shows the upside of Video Games instead of just showing the negatives it has on society. The fact that it states that video games can be beneficial is also a good point because in 5-10 years times not only could there be, action video games that involve people just clicking a mouse or moving arrows, but video games could reach a point where web developers start making educational video games for schools and also adults as a way to get get involved and understand things better. Not only that but the amount of money that can be made out of making video games for educational use is massive.

Jocelyn Mayr's insight:

This is a good argument, because not all people will sit down through episodes of a game, most gamers prefer to play multiplayer games and games that don't finish, whereas in episodic games you only have a certain amount of episodes and then game is finished, so there goes the money spent on an expensive game. The only thing that we will be able to see in 5-10 years time, is that the amount of episodic games will be reduced due to the lack of popularity and prices.

Jocelyn Mayr's insight:

Jonathon states some very good points in this video about how the future will look like in the Gaming industry. He looked at modes of playing games such as online games and motion sensors such as the xbox kinect which are already major improvements to the future of technologies, for example I believe that the motion sensor game style is a very good improvement because it gets you involed by being physically and mentally active in the game. The suggestions that had me made about how game developers might improve the way people game are really good and I can definately see that happening in 5-10 years time.

Jocelyn Mayr's insight:

In this article Tim Sweeney states a really good idea where gaming could be cloud centric, meaning you can play your game on any device. This could impact the future greatly as people will react to this and want to play more video games because the accessibility will be so much easier. I also like this article because it shows the perspective of different game developers and what they think the future may look like.

Jocelyn Mayr's insight:

The article itself is explanitory in the way that it describes that in the future there are endless possibilities of what could happen, you can basically do anything with games. It also explains that it is taking over the new generation but also the older generation which is interesting because in older times it wouldnt be like that. It is a good article because it gives an insight of everything that could happen and what could occur.
