Video for all project | Video for Learning | Scoop.it

The European Video for ALL educational project is a European project that will bring together all current methodologies, ideas and innovative practices to teach and learn languages by integrating digital video.

theo kuechel's insight:

Teachers may be interested in joining, or following this  language focused video project, which involves partners from six EU countries. As well as some examples of different 'types' of educational video the project shares a comprehensive curated repository of useful video resources including, amongst others; papers and articles, web resources, and social media spaces.

It's early days and I look forward to seeing more examples of the student produced videos,

Before it became known as the idiot box, television was seen as the best hope for bringing enlightenment to the American people...

...

In light of the current buzz surrounding flipped classrooms, MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) and video lecture-capture; this piece on Matt Novak's excellent Paleofuture blog at Smithsonian.com, serves to remind us that educational TV/broadcasting; (now online video), is nothing new and perhaps offers us a clearer historical and academic context for evaluating the current use of video and broadcast technologies for learning.

The drawings used to illustrate the article are superb, and worthy of inclusion in any serious presentation about online learning!

Premiere: One Millionth Tower High-Rise Documentary Takes Format to New Heights | Video for Learning | Scoop.it

Premiering at the recent Mozilla Festival, The National Film Board of Canada's  One Millionth Tower  is an interactive documentary on the lives of  residents of Toronto  living in a high rise.

The movie makes extensive use of HTML5  and Popcorn.js  bringing in data from Wikipedia and Flickr and Google maps.

I think the NFB's  Highrise Project is an excellent indicator of how good educational content will evolve.

TED-Ed - Lessons Worth Sharing -

TED-Ed - Lessons Worth Sharing - | Video for Learning | Scoop.it

TED-Ed's mission is to capture and amplify the voices of great educators around the world. We do this by pairing extraordinary educators with talented animators to produce a new library of curiosity-igniting videos. A new site, which will launch in early April 2012, will feature these new TED-Ed Originals as well as some powerful new learning tools.

I  think we can all look forward to some inspiring and thought provoking educational videos when TED Ed launches. These will be 'crowdsourced' as TED seeks nominations for educators, animators  and lesson ideas to be included.

As a precursor the associated YouTube channel is now live and offers a flavour of the quality of the content to follow.
