The Five Borough Farm Data Collection Toolkit: Making the Case for Urban Farms

The Five Borough Farm Data Collection Toolkit: Making the Case for Urban Farms | Vertical Farm - Food Factory | Scoop.it
Rooftop gardens, edible schoolyards, community gardening in vacant lots and corporate gardens—urban agriculture of all sizes and forms is spreading across the country. Urban farms not only improve food access and nutrition of city residents, but also offer the promise of improving cityscapes, building social cohesion and enabling economic growth. Yet there is little hard evidence to quantify the extent of these benefits and make the case for scaling up urban farming.

The Gates Foundation has sunk $15 million into developing GMO 'super bananas' with high levels of pre-Vitamin A, writes Adam Breasley. And what exactly is the point, when delicious, popular, nutritious 'red bananas' rich in caroteinoids are already grown around the tropics?

Judit Urquijo's curator insight, November 21, 3:28 PM

Judit Urquijo's curator insight, November 26, 4:36 AM
