Venezuela is close to the equator, so average temperatures vary little throughout the year. Temeperatures are usally between 70 to 85 degrees fahrenheit. Venezuela only has to seasons wet, and dry seasons. The dry season last between November and May. The wet season last for the rest of the year.

July 5th, 1811 Venezuela declared independence from Spain. In 1831 General Jose Antonio Paez becomes the first president of Venezuela. In 1800s Venezuela had a civil war.

In1960 the government reformed a law that gave 200,000 families to receive land. Since Hugo has came to office agriculture has had a higher priority. Venezuela imports most of its food from Colombia and the United States.
