Using Pixelmator instead of PhotoShop For Artistic Photography | Mac20Q

Using Pixelmator instead of PhotoShop For Artistic Photography | Mac20Q | Using the Mac | Scoop.it

Using Creative Suite PhotoShop Is a little bit prohibitive to the ordinary user because the price is kind of excessive in which case you might go for the alternative of using Pixelmator which can do much of what Photoshop can do. I have just created a video which shows how to use Pixelmator to make images in the style of Dave Hill photo using some filters. It is an excellent style and vision in photography to try and emulate and is worth giving a try to see if you can create some of these bold and exciting images.

It is necessary for you to get your hands on a Quartz Composer filter so that you can do the high pass filter necessary to get this effect. There is one available on this posting on Mac20Q or you can also find it in the Pixelmator Forum if you do a search for high pass filter. The filter is very easy to install so that you have use of it within Pixelmator. Just by following this step-by-step approach and fiddling and twiddling with the adjustment sliders you will be able to come up with amazing images. I would say though, that it is best if you choose good images in the first place that have a good lighting to really get the best from this process.

Why not have a go and see what you can come up with and if you have any questions you can put them to David Allen at Mac20Q. I would like to see the images that you, with so why not post them either here on the Mac 20 Q site or you could even do a video response over on YouTube. Looking forward to hearing from you and seeing your photos.

Roaring with the iMac Lion – Better than a Snow Leopard | Mac20Q

Roaring with the iMac Lion – Better than a Snow Leopard | Mac20Q | Using the Mac | Scoop.it

Looking at whether the iMac is the best way to use OS X Lion. I have a Drobo attached to my iMac through the iMac FireWire port I would really like to have a Thunderbolt enabled Drobo. Hopefully that will come soon. It would be one of the best accessories to have for the iMac.

In this article I also give a mention to iMac Face Time. I would love to use face time more and would like it's even better if the messages system of iOS was all integrated with face time and iChat.
