Review of Movie Awards Trivia App |

The movie awards trivia application is quite simple and it is probably just as well that it is being offered at a reduced price when you consider what it does. It could do with more social network connectivity and it could also do with more opportunities of user interactivity within the application.

If you are a movie buff them you could have quite a bit of fun out of this Movie Awards Trivia application. It doesn't make full use of the multimedia possibilities in being an iPad application but it might be okay if you see it as the first version of an application which might get better over time.

Adding review questions to an Electronic textbook in iBooks Author

Using the iBooks Author application to create an electronic text book. Part of the job means putting in some review questions to help reinforce the learning process for students.

I think this is one of the best features of iBooks, the way that you can put these sets of questions in there to help get across important bits of data to the reader of the iBook textbook. It gets the person to do something that is interactive. Makes having an ebook that has other elements in it apart from text much more vibrant and useful for the learning process.

I only have dusty old books to look at when I was at school. Why not have a look at this new technology and make an electronic text book or any sort of interactive book that can be put into this format to make it more interesting.

The iPad as a High Speed Scanner of Business cards with WorldCard HD |

Just the app for the businessman drowning in a sea of business card and needs something to get the data off the cards and on to the ipad and the computer. WorldCard HD has OCR capabilities and sucks the data off the business card. All you have to do is to take the picture with your iPhone camera or the camera on the iPad and the app does the rest.

You can even import in the data you already have in your Address Book on your Mac or iOS to give you a head start.

iPads can’t improve learning without good teaching Pt 2 – Writing

"20 years of computers as a publishing tool has not necessarily improved the standard of students’ writing skills. The key words in that last sentence are of course publishing and writing. For too long we have seen the computer purely as a publishing tool. For me, the computer is far more effective as a writing tool."

Are the Online drawing websites better than proper photo editing for Mac? | Mac20Q

I have to say that I do have a bias towards having the application on my Mac for me to use rather than trusting and online picture editing application. Obviously some people have come up with some good ideas to make picture editing online useful in specific ways, but I would still rather grab a good application like Pixelmator. Acorn is another good image editor that you can use on your Mac to edit your photos and I would recommend it even though I do actually just use Pixelmator and Art Text 2 for just about all of my photo editing and graphic design. Art text 2 is particularly good for creating logos while Pixelmator is an all-rounder editing app for photos and making bitmap graphic design. Pixelmator does also have a small amount of vector design within it, although it is not terribly useful. In fact the vector design that is part of Art Text 2 which allows me to take individual letters from a section of text and manipulate them so that they are hopefully much more interesting in a variety of ways, is a useful addition to the Art Text 2 application.
