Stephanie Sandifer's curator insight, March 28, 2014 7:18 PM

If a teacher is allowed to do what he or she needs to do in order to be effective, then they would be operating much like a nimble or agile innovator or developer in their own classrooms -- carefully observing constantly, making relevant connections for their students, asking lots of questions about their practice and about how/what/why students are learning, actively searching for new ideas, and constantly experimenting and tweaking everything in order achieve the best possible outcome.

Scripted lessons, standardized curriculum, and "everyone on the same page on the same day" do not allow for this type of innovation.
