Vicki Mast's curator insight, September 13, 2013 11:24 AM

I just downloaded the free version which looks good, but may have to upgrade. The features look well worth the $3.99 price. You can move & resize your drawn objects, zoom in/out, etc. If you're working on creating "flipped classroom" videos, or how-to tutorials this may be what you need. Check out their website and user guide for the details.

7 ways to teach digital literacy skills - iPads in Education Ning

7 ways to teach digital literacy skills - iPads in Education Ning | Using Technology in the Classroom | Scoop.it

"Fostering digital literacy skills is one of the most difficult tasks for educators. Evaluating and analyzing online resources for accuracy is something that many adults struggle with – we’ve all been bamboozled before, haven’t we? But digital literacy is more than just determining if something is true or false – it’s intelligently and responsibly navigating online, it’s putting countless pieces together to form a puzzle, it’s determining what’s important and evaluating bias, etc – the list goes on. So, as an educator, how do we reinforce these crucial skills in our classrooms?"

11 Must Have iPad Apps for Teachers and Students ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | Using Technology in the Classroom | Scoop.it

"Today while I was lounging in Victoria Park, I took my iPad and started thumbing around through the apps I have. I was really surprised to find out that I have many apps installed but only some are being used on a regular basis. So it dawned on me to compile a list of some "must have" apps  that teachers should have access to. All of these apps are great for organizational tasks such as :  task management, bookmarking, note-taking...and media storage.

But the most important thing Williams does as a forward-thinking superintendent is to support principal and teacher innovation. Rather than saying no when an idea conflicts with district policy, he works to change the policy. He’s found that working that way removes most of the barriers people cite as obstacles to fully integrating technology into classrooms.

The Flipped Classroom model is changing the ways students learn and teachers teach. When you flip your classroom, you offer your students rich, engaging material to consider at home, and you use class time to help them interact with the ideas. Lecturing during class time is minimized and students have a teacher nearby when they are doing work and most likely to need guidance.

How Games Help Students Embrace Failure

How Games Help Students Embrace Failure | Using Technology in the Classroom | Scoop.it

Games, in contrast, depend on failure to teach. They literally push players to the edge of their ability and knowledge; then the best games change or adapt when a level is reached to push players further. In order to succeed, players must encounter and overcome obstacles both large and small along the way. These disappointments teach students to persevere and foster creativity and adaptability – invaluable skills in our hyper-connected, fast-paced, global economy. Here is a look at some of the ways failure helps students and how games support this valuable learning opportunity.

Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Badging in the Classroom--Our Definitive Guide -- THE Journal | Using Technology in the Classroom | Scoop.it
With new programs and standards emerging, digital badges are helping students prove what they've learned in--and outside--school.

March was a big month in the world of digital badging. The MacArthur Foundation showcased winners of its Badges for Lifelong Learning competition at the Digital Media and Learning Conference in Chicago--one year after awarding those winners $2 million worth of development grants. The city of Chicago itself announced that badging would be a key component of its Summer of Learning program, which is being called the largest citywide learning campaign in the country. And after 18 months of development and testing, the Mozilla Foundation, maker of the Firefox web browser, unveiled version 1.0 of its Open Badges Infrastructure (OBI) specification.

Using E-Portfolios in the Classroom

Using E-Portfolios in the Classroom | Using Technology in the Classroom | Scoop.it

With more and more schools going paperless or migrating to the "cloud" (storing files on the Internet), student work has become more easily shareable, accessible by many, and more easily organized. Many teachers have turned to digital portfolios -- or "e-portfolios" -- for their students. These digital portfolios have caused a huge shift in how teachers assign, collect and assess student classwork and projects.

Impressive, Ludmilla!! Love PBworks as well.
Rebecca Delabrer's curator insight, October 5, 2014 9:45 PM

This article describes how student's work in school used to be more private and usually only seen by the teacher if it was done on paper. Now that schools are resorting to "paperless" classrooms, children's work is becoming much more easy to share and find and other things.

I don't think schools should go paperless. The internet is a dangerous place, especially for dumb kids our age. Not only that but the internet allows kids to cheat a lot easier than they already do now so it's promoting cheating indirectly.
