ok - I'm in - developed by @nytlabs

Stephen Dale's curator insight, May 9, 2014 7:29 AM

Vellum acts as a reading list  for your Twitter feed, finding all the links that are being shared by those you follow on Twitter and displaying them each with their full titles and descriptions.

This flips the Twitter model, treating the links as primary and the commentary as secondary (you can still see all the tweets about each link, but they are less prominent).

Vellum puts a spotlight on content, making it easy to find what you should read next.

#ELT chat: how to participate

#ELT chat: how to participate | Teachning, Learning and Develpoing with Technology | Scoop.it

What is #ELTChat?
#ELTchat started in September 2010 when a group of #ELTchat professionals began to use twitter to discuss topics of interest to English Language Teachers. It began with the aim of creating a freely available social network for ELT professionals offering mutual support and opportunities for Continuous Professional Development.

Now, every Wednesday at 12pm and 21.00pm, ELT teachers from all over the world log into their Twitter account and for one hour hold an online discussion on a topic they have selected.

Can Twitter open up a new space for learning, teaching and thinking?

Can Twitter open up a new space for learning, teaching and thinking? | Teachning, Learning and Develpoing with Technology | Scoop.it

Two academics discuss the pros and cons of using Twitter as a learning tool to encourage instinctive thinking in higher education

At the end of 2011, a few geeks in Sweden set up the Swedish Twitter University, which brought lectures in a series of tweets to a class of around 500 followers. It may have been the first time Twitter was used to deliver higher education, and given recent debate about massive open online courses (MOOCs), it seems apt that we reflect on what Twitter might do to transform the classroom and open up a new space for public education?

Imagine getting all of the key notes of the thought leaders in the conference pushed to you in real time. That is why we love Twitter with our conferences.

We have found twitter to be a great learning augmentation and support tool for conferences and key leanring events. We use a hashtag and then produce a tweetbook post conference and share with attendees. These community notelbooks are great to recap conferences in blog posts, share learning with people unable to attend, and extend the insights from the conferences.

Reading RSS feeds is a great way to keep up with what's happening. But there's another technology that provides a different, more spontaneous window into the minds of other people.

It's called Twitter and it's one of the fastest growing Web 2.0 technologies.
