Gerald Carey's insight:

Although this was done in 2010 and so is probably out of date, the process looks intriguing. Students follow a series of videos and then, in the Docs chat box, give explanations for what is happening. Once this is finished, they do an online quiz using Google Forms. Free Technology for Teachers: Coordinate Back-to-School with Choice Eliminator and Google Forms

Free Technology for Teachers: Coordinate Back-to-School with Choice Eliminator and Google Forms | Using Google Drive in the classroom | Scoop.it

Google Forms can be one of the best tools in the classroom for data collection and assessment as well as a great resources for teachers to use in order to get information from parents. In this Back-to-School season, you may need to coordinate times for parent-teacher conferences or the donation of shared classroom school supplies. While Google Forms offers a simple solution, teachers still need to spend time sifting through all the various responses - particularly when parents are trying to select a time or sign up for a single resource.

What if there was a way to eliminate choices from a question so as not to have sign-up conflicts? There is!

Gerald Carey's insight:

Use the 'Choice Eliminator' add-on to remove choices from a drop down list in Google Forms.

Engage Students with ThingLink Video & Google Docs | Using Google Drive in the classroom | Scoop.it

In Week 5 of the ThingLink Teacher Challenge participants are encouraged to design a media rich guided learning experience to engage students with ThingLink Video. These annotated video lessons work well because they allow students to progress at their own pace, providing opportunities for review and challenge. Once a ThingLink Video lesson is created and published, it can be accessed at school or at home as an extension of the classroom. Best of all, these lessons can be powered by Google Docs to provide data, student accountability, and opportunities for feedback.

Chromecast and Google Slides | Slides | The Apps Show - YouTube

Gerald Carey's insight:

If you have Chromecast, this could be very useful in the classroom. You can project your Googles slide from your phone to your monitor and therefore control the presentation. Also very useful is that you can have speaker notes on your phone to refer to during the presentation.

This process is still in 'beta' phase but given how cheap Chromecast is, it might be worth looking at.
