Free Technology for Teachers: How to Use Google Slides to Organize Research

Free Technology for Teachers: How to Use Google Slides to Organize Research | Using Google Drive in the classroom | Scoop.it

Like many of you, when I was in middle school and high school we were taught to create index cards to organize our research. After creating the cards we sorted them into an order to support writing our research papers. That same concept can be applied to organizing research with Google Slides. In the video below I demonstrate how this is done.

Gerald Carey's insight:

I have used this successfully with some students in my classes to help with revision.

Given that students can get access to Google Drive through their mobile phones, pulling these revision slides out when they have a bit of spare time is a great way to revise for tests and exams.

Animals could help reveal why humans fall for illusions - OUPblog

Animals could help reveal why humans fall for illusions - OUPblog | Using Google Drive in the classroom | Scoop.it
By Laura Kelley and Jennifer Kelley Visual illusions, such as the rabbit-duck (shown below) and café wall are fascinating because they remind us of the discrepancy between perception and reality. But our knowledge of such illusions has been largely limited to studying humans.
Gerald Carey's insight:

Although the classic rabbit/duck illusion is used here it is only because the authors are discussing the use of illusions by animals (e.g. the bowerbird).

Topics include colour constancy, forced perspective and perceived size.
