Game Based Learning: Google Slides Coordinate Plane Battleship

Game Based Learning: Google Slides Coordinate Plane Battleship | Using Google Drive in the classroom | Scoop.it
Google Slides is an awesome tool for creating activity spaces. One of my favorite things about Google Slides is the ability to transform it from being a presentation tool to a collaboration or work…
Gerald Carey's insight:

I have had students play this game on Cartesian planes on paper but Alice Keeler has converted into a Google Slides game.

Gerald Carey's insight:

A new way to write maths equations.

There are a few bugs but if they can iron them out, it looks very useful.

Go here (https://player.vimeo.com/video/93175731) to see a video explaining how to use it.

Note: now that I have used it a little it works well but has some annoying features which have resulted in me removing it as Chrome extension.  These annoyances are to be expected because it is still in beta testing phase.  So beware.

Google Math: I See Math - Teacher Tech

Google Math: I See Math - Teacher Tech | Using Google Drive in the classroom | Scoop.it
Math is all around us. When you see math "in the wild" take a picture of it! Easily create a Google Slides on the go and add the photo.
Gerald Carey's insight:
This post is about using photos with Google Slides to post open-ended questions with a mathematical focus. For example: it shows one photo of six different cup sizes and asks the question: how can I get value for money?  Or how do you tell the difference between a log and a stick?
Very easy to set up and a good way to challenge yourself to see Maths everywhere!

A sidebar for easily creating and editing mathematics
Gerald Carey's insight:

Updated recently and a bonus for science and maths teachers.

Add formulas into a Google Document through a formula window or directly using Latex.

If the link does not work, look up "Formula Editor" in Google Add-ons.

Probably not as good as g(Math) though.
