A Beginner’s Guide to Google Sheets for Educators | Imagine Easy Solutions | Using Google Drive in the classroom | Scoop.it

One application that sometimes gets overlooked, though, is Google Sheets. Yeah, we know, spreadsheets aren’t the most fun or fascinating tool to play with, but there are powerful possibilities for using Google Sheets in education.

Gerald Carey's insight:

Although this article starts out more like a 'how to use Google Sheets' introductory post, near the end the author has a list of suggestions on how to use this app in the classroom. The how-to part is well done with lots of clear examples including how to collaborate, how to organise files and how to use Google Forms with Sheets.

A reasonably good post that could be used to introduce Sheets to your school.

Sylvia Sanchez's curator insight, February 25, 2016 4:50 PM

This article is fascinating in how we have all these programs that could help us with our classes or any other activity. This Google drawing in class is amazing how we can use it to make the class interesting you can say. For example, in math class I can use my table and write on google drawing, so I can be more interested in the lesson and have something to do while I am listening. I also like how google drawing is for any subject like English, Math, Chemistry and etc. Most of the people miss judge google drawing which can be used to make project for any class, which will come in handy. Also since my English class creates a lot of blogs, this program could be useful. I also like how this program is for teachers and pretty much anyone could use it. It’s helpful, fun to use, and productive as well.

For remote collaboration, Google Apps still can't be beat | Using Google Drive in the classroom | Scoop.it
Successful team meetings require input from everyone. When you can't be in the same room, Google Hangouts and Google Drawings offer an effective virtual alternative
Gerald Carey's insight:

An innovative use of Google Drawing to add virtual sticky notes for a 'wall of ideas'.

Students could use this to share their ideas and then add blue dots to the areas that they are interested in.

This is a business example and the author is showing why there are some parts of collaboration that Google Drive apps do better than anything else out there.
