Very good post about using Google Classroom to ask students for feedback, questions, suggestions and compliments. The comments are done anonymously (so no other student sees it) but it is easy to reply.  An alternative to Forms

If you use Google Classroom (and I don't) here is a way to make your own unique header for your classes. It could be a good way for students to identify which class they are in.

This one shows how to get students to submit work with Google Forms but the focus is with Google Classroom.

Today, we will begin opening up Google Classroom to users without a G Suite for Education account. From homeschools to tutoring centers to adult education, teachers and learners in many different environments will soon be able to use Classroom.

Finally, Google Classroom is available for use beyond schools. At this stage you can only join classes but in the next few weeks you should be able to create classes. Great for us where the school admin is not interested in setting up a school account.

I am not sure these are 'hacks' but there are some very good ideas on how to use Google Docs. For example, number 13 (The in-box form) gets students to submit links to their work onto a form. This means the teacher will have a list of student work and have easy access through the links!
