There are many board games that can be very educational. These may be especially good for homeschoolers to use to learn about different things. The following are some such games

This article provides some suggestions for how four popular games can be used: Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble, Monopoly, and Chutes and Ladders (Snakes and Ladders).

 

These games are all amenable to adaptation for the English classroom. For Trivial Pursuit and Snakes and Ladders, we can use the original game board and pieces, but make our own question cards.Monopoly can be redesigned so that players have to answer language questions to earn their money.

 

Scrabble can be played without adaptation, or for lower levels we may give each player more tiles, and include more copies of the more common letters. Or instead of having tiles with letters for the players to form words, we can have tiles with words for the players to form sentences.
