Les deux ont un certain nombre d'éléments en commun. En fait, Lean UX et Design Thinking s'inspire de concepts centrés sur l’humain dans de nombreux domaines clefs : observation utilisateur, compréhension et construction de l'empathie, brainstorming collaboratif pour trouver différentes solutions,  et mesure de l'impact de ces solutions pour déterminer la meilleure.
