I am having some work done by an on-line contractor whose first suggestion to me was to consider an Infographic for my ebook concept. I told him it was too busy (which remains my thinking) but there is apparently something here I don't understand. I will pass on this article to validate his opinion, generally and that I am an old foogey who is about a century and a half behind the curve.
Eric_Determined / Eric Silverstein's comment, September 25, 2013 8:10 PM
Hi Tom. Thanks for reaching out. As you will be looking to promote your new ebook, it's true that an infographic is the latest tool used by many to provide an image overview of the topic you are looking to discuss, educate or engage in. Another area you may want to consider will be publishing small excerpts of your ebook, in order to engage your audience and entice them to purchase the full version. This should all be part of your content marketing strategy. Good luck!

Eric makes some very interesting ideas. I am working on a study on how to creatively promote and sell eBooks. I hope to share findings soon

One accepted principle of UX is how emotion is quintessentially mapped to most if not all we do.

Cognitive Styles | UX Magazine

Cognitive Styles | UX Magazine | UX Design | Scoop.it

For over a century, psychologists have been trying to account for the range of individual differences people exhibit when interacting with new information. At the heart of their research lie cognitive styles—the stable attitudes, preferences, and habitual strategies that determine how an individual processes information. Understanding cognitive styles will help us design better experiences for users.

Anthropologists Engaging with Media

Anthropologists Engaging with Media | UX Design | Scoop.it

“Anthropology,” James Peacock said in a 1995 address at the annual meetings of the American Anthropological Association, “boasts brilliant observers, cultural critics, writers, and creators, yet few if any of us have produced books that we (not to mention others) crave to read, films that we crave to see, or music that we crave to hear.” Eighteen years have passed since Peacock spoke these words. So, have anthropologists today heeded his call?  Are the crucial issues of our time receiving public reflection from anthropologists, if not in books, then in popular media? What are some of the obstacles that prevent us from doing so more often?

With every passing year, I see more anthropologists using their regional and topical expertise to weigh in on social issues in the media. In this post, I’d like to address two possible ways that we as anthropologists can communicate with a lay public—media appearances and Op-Eds– and the positives and negatives of both.

Almost-Humans: L’anthropomorphisme vs notre propre humanité

Almost-Humans: L’anthropomorphisme vs notre propre humanité | UX Design | Scoop.it
Armony Hren's insight:
