Most Believe Behavioral Marketing Can Boost ROI - Marketing Charts

Most Believe Behavioral Marketing Can Boost ROI - Marketing Charts | User Engagement | Scoop.it

A new study commissioned by Silverpop and conducted by Forrester Consulting indicates that the vast majority of marketers surveyed believe that behavioral marketing can boost their performance in a range of areas, most notably in return on investment, revenue attributable to marketing activities, and customer satisfaction and loyalty. Though the sample size is small, responses suggest that mature or transitioning behavioral marketers are indeed seeing better results than their peers.

Among B2B respondents, for example, mature/transitioning behavioral marketers estimate that 34% of their sales pipeline can be attributed to leads their marketing function has generated, compared to 26% of “immature behavioral marketers.”

How to guarantee big ROI on big data

How to guarantee big ROI on big data | User Engagement | Scoop.it

One of the main reasons big data ROI seems so obscure to CEO's is because CEO's don't use the right people to assess ROI on big data - they might indeed use nobody, but gut feelings instead. There is still a lot of confusion about what a data scientist is, and I believe this is one of the major bottlenecks against adopting big data. Executive people erroneously think that hiring a data scientist trained with a respected university degree is the solution, but many times it fails because they are hiring a fake data scientist. Professionals with very advanced statistical knowledge won't help you much. You need a guy like me, who maybe is not as statistically or computer science savvy as my peers, yet has incredible business experience and both broad and deep business knowledge - including law, human resources, operations, product, accounting, sales, client relationships and analytics. In short, a vertical data scientist.

The Four Ignored Elephants of Quality in the Classroom and Teacher Retention | Blog | Huff Post Detroit

The Four Ignored Elephants of Quality in the Classroom and Teacher Retention | Blog | Huff Post Detroit | User Engagement | Scoop.it

I was reminded of Winnie the Pooh and his hallucinogenic-trip, envisioning heffalumps and woozles, the other day...

My priest was giving me an update on contract talks with his elementary teachers. "I tell them, 'You only work 3/4 of the day and 3/4 of the year, why should you expect full-pay anyway?'"

I wanted to say "Yeah, Padre, and you only work three hours on Sundays and get free clothing, room and board." But then I'd have to escort him to the confessional right afterwards for absolution of the sin of sarcasm.

I gave up my calling last summer and quit public school teaching after 25 years. That was never my plan; I was going to go 40 years. It wasn't "kids today," parental apathy or even standardized testing. Frankly, we were going broke. After my state and city imposed four years of pay-cuts -- including a 9 percent six-month retroactive cut mid-year -- I knew that my second and third jobs were pulling me away from my family and my mortgage.

Now I'm in a second career, away from my calling, hoping to retire in another 25 years, and continuing to believe that someday the general public will also notice a few of these elephants that I've been seeing in my classroom since college.
