sebastian Martin's insight:

Ronald Reagan was really the first president to focus on terrorism. It tells me that terrorism has been a problem since at the 1980s. This is bad because now is become horrible and nobody is able to control or stop it. There is always going to be somebody in the world who fights and causes issues.

Obama Must Realize That the U.S. Can't Afford Not to Lead -We Shouldn't Build Nations Who Are At War With Us

Obama Must Realize That the U.S. Can't Afford Not to Lead -We Shouldn't Build Nations Who Are At War With Us | us war on terror | Scoop.it
Obama may believe he can abandon “nation-building abroad” to focus on “nation-building at home,” but that is a “false choice.”
By Paul Wolfowitz.

LBN:

I don't believe we should rebuild nations we are at war with. Just as we shouldn't provide them any military or financial aid. If they want their nations rebuilt they must do away with terrorism, as in Gaza, and they must pay the US to rebuild their country&train their military, etc. We should have done this in Iraq, and Afghanistan.

sebastian Martin's insight:

The article is saying that America can't try and fix all of these countries until we fix our own. It talked about how we need to build up our economy here in the United States. Countries around the world that we are trying to fix, but we are not succeeding with that. We need to focus on our own country, and then try and focus helping the other countries later.

A short history of terrorism attacks involving Canada

A short history of terrorism attacks involving Canada | us war on terror | Scoop.it
Canadians have been the targets – and sometimes the perpetrators – of terrorist attacks in the modern era.

Via @NewDayStarts
sebastian Martin's insight:

Canada has also had terrorist attacks. This article started with the year of 1985 and goes up until 2013. In 2006, 18 men were arrested for trying to kill the prime minister and bomb other buildings. In my opinion, I think that they should be punished the most possible.

I think that it is odd that they use terrorism in Canada. Canada doesn't really do anything bad. They are a peaceful country. Why Canada?
Matthew Bryan Vos's curator insight, October 2, 2013 3:15 PM

Canada has been targeted seven times in acts of terror. To be honest were like the number 1 ally to Canada besides Great Britian. Canada is still standing strong that should show terrorists that we powerful countries do not collapse easily its going to take a lot more to weaken us. Were almost to war even though were going to disarm the chemical weapons in syira.  But were almost there before we start unleashing our military strength on them. Canada, United states and the U.K. combine forces it should put a red flag in their sights that we're not a weak striking force.

Iloria Phoenix's comment, October 3, 2013 1:36 PM
I agree, I think that terrorist should not get away with their unruly acts and that the U.S and it's allies combined are very powerful but a war wont solve all the problems going on with terrorists.

Canada says it is suspending diplomatic relations with Iran, closing its embassy in Tehran and expelling all Iranian diplomats from Canada.

sebastian Martin's insight:

Canada is stopping their relationships with Iran. Canada's foreign minister thinks that Iran is not good for global peace. They have a nuclear program that Canada is unsure of. Canada believes that Iran sponsors terrorists. In my opinion, I don't blame Canada for ending their relationship with Iran. Canada thinks that Iran is just a country full of terrorists.

Canda is very friendly when it comes to war on terror for the most part they are very mutual with other countries. If Canada is involved with something it normally isn't for long. For example in this article it talked about how Canada was involved with Iran.  Canda pulled there troops out and is no longer in Iran because Canda thinks that Iran is one of the worst threats against peace to other countires. Canda likes to be a very peaceful country.

Obama welcomes Syria chemical weapons deal but retains strikes ... | us war on terror | Scoop.it
US and Russia reach Geneva agreement to destroy Syria stockpile by mid-2014 but differ on steps to be taken if plan fails.
sebastian Martin's insight:

Syria has to provide a list of their chemical weapons to the United States. Obama wants to disarm them of their weapons. Obama keeps changing his mind about what to do. Syria is killing their own people and have killed over 1,400 people. He is working with Russia to come up with a plan. In my opinion, I think it is ridiculous that they can bomb their own people and not get a consequence for it. It is not right.

I think obama is making the right decision about this. Because if syria does not agree or does not do it at all i think the US should step in and do something about it.
Kaytline Schroder's curator insight, October 2, 2013 12:00 PM

I think this is good. Syria is a threat to America because of their chemical weapons.

Maddison Stursma's curator insight, October 3, 2013 7:15 PM

This article talks about how Russia and Obama have come up with an agreement that after three days they will stop chemical weapons in syria. If production continues obama will use military strike

sebastian Martin's insight:

Technology is evolving so quickly that most leaders don't understand how to keep up with it. In the future, America could have problems with cyber attacks in the future. There has been some problems with China and how they are using the internet. In my opinion, technology is moving very fast, and the younger generation is more understanding of how to keep up. We have more knowledge and it is easier for us to keep up with it all. There should be younger people working with technology and helping the government.

Tehran rejects a claim by Canada over alleged links between Iran and two suspects arrested in Canada.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is the biggest victim of terrorism, but the extremist administration of Canada has put Iranophobia on its agenda over the recent years,” the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

Myanmar must stop killing of Muslims

“The government of Myanmar must stop acts of extremism and violence, this is the demand of countries and international organizations,” he urged, noting that Tehran has been making efforts to stop harassment of the Muslim minority.

My opinion on this is that it is good that they had got the terrorist before they had a chance to kill or hurt any one in either country. It is interesting how the Iranian official says that he doesn't think there was going to be a terrorist attack. Iran is a country that has a leader who is not doing what he is supposed to be doing. He and his followers are not helping the situation with terrorists.

US renews global terrorism alert for American citizens

US renews global terrorism alert for American citizens | us war on terror | Scoop.it
The US state department, citing “credible information” regarding potential "terrorist actions and violence" against US citizens and US interests, has sounded the alarm for its countrymen worldwide just days after a deadly attack in Kenya.

Via @NewDayStarts
sebastian Martin's insight:

At the end of September, the US goverment said that they had good information that terrorists might try and attack the United States again. Terrorists were reported to be thinking about blowing up many areas. They reported many buildings and possible targets that Americans should be worried about. The government took action on this. In my opinion, it is good that the government takes action about it. They need to do it better than they are. Sometimes though they do things like this and and then nothing really happens.

I think that it is good that they are taking precaustions to these bomb threats because recently there have been to many threat slip ups that have not been acted upon look at Boston for example. If terrorist are truly planning to attack the U.S again I am glad to see that the government is trying to prevent it. Also I think the government should have a good back up plan for if a terrorist attack does break out.

sebastian Martin's insight:

There was a bombing during the Boston Marathon. Charities and fundraisers were done to help the people who were injured or families that were affected. The attorney sent surveys to the charities to find out how much money was made and where the money went to. In my opinion, it is a good thing that the state did this because there will be less confusion. It is good to let the people know what is happening to their money.
