Sport in Uruguay has been an important part of Uruguayan culture, since the early start of the nation. Winners of such important awards such as the FIFA World Cup, the French Open, and Olympic medals, Uruguay has been a constantly successful sports nation in continental and world aspects.

Football (Spanish: fútbol) is the most popular sport in Uruguay. Uruguay has won an Olympic gold medal in 1924, and another one in 1928, which were considered the most important tournaments in football, before the FIFA World Cup began in 1930, hence the four stars on the Uruguayan jersey. The first World Cup, which Uruguay won,[1] was held in 1930 in Montevideo. The Estadio Centenario was built for the World Cup, and serves to this day as the country's main football stadium.

Uruguay also won the World Cup in 1950, beating Brazil in Rio de Janeiro at the Estádio do Maracanã. The event has had astounding impacts on the history of the sport, due to Brazil being a heavily favoured team at that time, and is also known as the Maracanazo.

what i learned from the video is that in urguay is the they eat cow a whole lot. I also learned that a traditional meal in uruguay includes pork loin, chops, lamb, steak, and sausages. Also i learned that cow out number people in uruguay 3 to 1. uruguaians eat meat 7 to 10 times a week. They use hardwood to cook their meat.

Flag of Uruguay - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The national flag of Uruguay (Pabellón Nacional) has a field of nine equal horizontal stripes alternating white and blue. The canton is white, charged with the Sun of May, from which 16 rays extend, alternating between triangular and wavy.[1] The flag was first adopted by law on December 16, 1828 and had 17 stripes until July 11, 1830, when a new law reduced the number of stripes to nine.[2] The flag was designed by Joaquín Suárez.[2]

The nine horizontal stripes (light blue and white)on the flag represents the nine original departments of Uruguay, the first flag that appeared in 1828 had 9 light blue stripes, its number was reduced to 4 in 1830 before the proclamation of the country's first Constitution. The sun represents a new nation in the world, the flag's design is a combination of the Argentine flag and the flag of the United States.

Recognized for historical reasons, and all three are flown together on government buildings.

The President of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay (Spanish: Presidente de la República Oriental del Uruguay) is the head of state of Uruguay. His or her rights are determined in the Constitution of Uruguay. Conforms with the Secretariat of the Presidency, the Council of Ministers and the Director of the Office of Planning and Budget, the executive branch. In case of absence, his office is exercised by the Vice President. In turn, the President of the Republic is the Commander in Chief of the Armed forces.

According to the current Constitution, the President and Vice President are elected by direct popular election. The President has a term of five years without immediate reelection until after the same period after the cessation of office. They are elected on a single candidate submitted by the party. In case no candidate obtains an absolute majority of votes (50.1%), a runoff is held between the two first majorities. In this case, the candidate who obtains the majority, wins the election.

The president of uruguay is Jose Mujica. He has been i office since march 1, 2010. His term length is five years non renewable immediatly. He is also apart of the Broad front party. Lastly he got 1,197,638 votes in the election.
