The buildings still stand in the hope that they’ll be forgotten… but perhaps outright demolishing them would be an insult to those who lived and died on display there. Those who do still visit can see the remains of some of the pavilions, created to mimic exotic architecture, and mosaics showing the art of another world. The men and women who found themselves suddenly living in these homes – which must have looked horribly, coldly foreign and frightening – were usually given “authentic” clothing to wear, and told to entertain the visitors that came through the gates. They played music, performed dances, fostered animals and raised their children.

Parkour at abandoned places is very risky. At least make sure you have someone with you, on the ground. Abandoned places tend to be in poor repair.
