Under a proposal, the Food and Drug Administration would shift from taking action after contamination occurred to requiring measures to prevent it in the first place.

This is a major change in the reach of government intrusion into business, but it is also a major change in keeping us safe. There should be great public discussion about this. I think this is where the TEA party, the extreme right, and the libertarians should take a stand. Of course, I hope they lose, but they should take their stand. Delete the scoop?

We want to think we are still living in a world where our food comes from the farm as "God" intended, but it really comes from the corporation and the laboratory. That doesn't make it bad or unhealthy, just upsetting. Take "pink slime" was it just misreported? At least in part, yes.
