I wish I could take some schadenfreude from this story, but I am too worried for our economy. I wonder how many people will now stop saying, "Oh, it's both parties' fault." I wonder how many people will now realize that the Republicans are not better at handling that economy.

The most popular, lazy theory for Republican renewal is some version of this: "We've got to stop nominating Republicans who make rape gaffes! Don't talk about rape!" But the Todd Akins of the world don't "talk about rape" because they're venal.
