Romney: The nasty side revealed again -gays having children. It's Not Right on Paper. It's Not Right in Fact.' | Upsetment | Scoop.it

We've witnessed many Mitt Romneys, but the one unearthed yesterday is perhaps the most vicious and cruel: a zealot who, as Massachusetts governor, became hellbent on stigmatizing the children of gay and lesbian parents, labeling them outcasts and...

Of course we should take our dislike of the parents' lifestyle out on the children. Right thinking, Mitt.

For Republicans, Oklahoma Tornado Revives Questions About Disaster Relief | TIME.com | Upsetment | Scoop.it
Congressional Republicans are torn between their desire to help the reeling residents of Moore, Okla., with their recent zeal for deficit reduction.
Kenneth Weene's insight:

I think every member of congress who changes their position should have to explain publicly how doing so makes sense to him/her so that the voters can have that information when it comes time to vote. And if they all give a canned answer, that fact should be made very public.

Rand Paul Claims Damning IRS Memo Exists | Upsetment | Scoop.it
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) claimed Sunday that the Internal Revenue Service had a "written policy" that said agency officials were "targeting people who were opposed to the president." "And when that comes forward, we need to know who wrote the policy...
Kenneth Weene's insight:

This sounds like horse shit to me. For a political leader to make pronouncements based on rumors suggests that we should send him back to the minor leagues. He damned well better be able to back this up with real evidence.

Here’s what it cost to buy your senator’s vote for the NRA | Upsetment | Scoop.it
Why did 45 members of the senate vote against the vast majority of Americans on background checks? Money.
Kenneth Weene's insight:

When did Jeff Flake decide that money for his campaigns was more important than voting intelligently on behalf of his constituents?

The adoptive parents of a child born with male and female organs say South Carolina mutilated their son by choosing a gender and removing his male genitalia.

IRS, DOJ, and Benghazi Expose Limits of Obama’s Big Government Vision

IRS, DOJ, and Benghazi Expose Limits of Obama’s Big Government Vision | Upsetment | Scoop.it
Obama looks to government as the first solution. It’s in his DNA, writes Stuart Stevens. And now that DNA is producing rogue genes.
Kenneth Weene's insight:

There has been a definite failure to manage government in the way that we expect from the administration. This is clearly exacerbated by the absence of certain key people, such as a head of the IRS; but in the end it is a real failure by the president.

Does that mean we should give up on how we govern or we should demand better? I go with the second option because we cannot prosper nor achieve happiness without good government.

Ayotte Hurls 'Lying' Charge Amid Attacks

Ayotte Hurls 'Lying' Charge Amid Attacks | Upsetment | Scoop.it
Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) defended her vote against a background check amendment in an op-ed published Monday in the Seacoast Online, just before her vote came under fire in a new television ad put out by Mayors Against Illegal Guns.
Kenneth Weene's insight:

Kelly Ayotte ignored the will of the people of her state. Now she'd trying to say she really didn't mean to. Poor Kelly, so misunderstood. At least Jeff Flake, one of my senators, knows that we think he's beneath pond scum because he voted against better background checks.

A clear case of self-defense rallies supporters of gun rights

A clear case of self-defense rallies supporters of gun rights | Upsetment | Scoop.it
As the national gun debate raged, a mother in Georgia fired shots that echoed across the country.
Kenneth Weene's insight:

Except this isn't a clear case of self-defense. He ran away from a woman who challenged him with a phone in her hand and then went past the goodies to steal to look for this lady and her kids in a crawl space. Something isn't quite kosher with this story. And why did she call her husband instead of 911? Nope, can we have Perry Mason weigh in on this one?

And, yes, I do believe in the right to defend yourself in your home and the right to own guns. Just not sure I believe this story.

Does anybody honestly believe that if the Jews of the world had the money and desire to buy a country they would pick Hungary? Now if they were talking New Zealand or Costa Rica, maybe even Holland, but Hungary? Always knew antisemites were dumb.

Ohio Republicans Push Law To Penalize Colleges For Helping Students Vote | Upsetment | Scoop.it
Republicans in the Ohio Legislature are pushing for a plan that would cost the state’s public universities tens of millions of dollars if they provide students with proof-of-address documents to help them register to vote.
Kenneth Weene's insight:

Once again we see the GOP trying to deprive people of the right to vote. I have to ask once again, why would anybody support a party that was so opposed to democratic process?

Islam today is torn between those who would go back to a "purer religious society" and those who want the benefits of modern materialism and freedom. This is the real issue in the Muslim world, especially the Arab portion of it; and it is an issue which we in the "West" can not address.

Serving their country, losing their jobs

Serving their country, losing their jobs | Upsetment | Scoop.it
The jobs of the nation's citizen soldiers are supposed to be safe while they are serving their country: Federal law does not allow employers to penalize service members because of their military duties.
Kenneth Weene's insight:

Returning soldiers: We call them heroes, but we treat them like discarded sandwiches. There is something sadly wrong with our government and it can be summed up by the preoccupation with money instead of people, with the rights of corporations and organizations instead of the well-being of individuals.

Pro-Business Decisions Are Defining This Supreme Court

Pro-Business Decisions Are Defining This Supreme Court | Upsetment | Scoop.it
A new analysis finds the current Supreme Court to be by far the most pro-business of any since World War II.
Kenneth Weene's insight:

Was there anybody who didn't already know this? This Supreme Court thinks that corporations are direct descents from Adam and Eve or at least from Jesus Christ. They have lost the sense of proportion that T.R., Taft, and Wilson tried to give back to the country after the last corruption of the late nineteenth century.
