Some of the bill's provisions are strongly supported by companies that have contributed heavily to the campaigns of federal candidates. Which 10 corporate PACS contributed the most money to federal candidates during the first few months of 2015?

While there are Republican fools who think corporations are people and should be free to spend this money lobbying (but of course not pay taxes), I imagine that Eisenhower is writhing in his grave at this report.

The state-owned oil company of Azerbaijan paid for travel, rugs and other gifts for lawmakers, staffers.

The role of money in our government stinks like fish that have rotted and then are shoved into our noses. I don't know if these members of congress knew they were taking from a foreign government. I don't know if they knew the value of the gifts they were given. What I do know is that members of congress should either pay for their own trips or the trips should be exclusively paid for by the government.

It's not surprising that lobbyists would be happy about persuading legislators who were set to "vote their conscience" to be hostile, partisan, and uncooperative instead, but the FreedomWorks memo newly uncovered by Mother Jones' Andy Kroll is at least darkly amusing for the directness with which that dubious achievement is...

I don't care for whom they work or if I agree with the position they are advocating or not, lobbyists have become a threat to the very fabric of American government.
