The CIA Can’t Keep Its Drone Propaganda Straight

The CIA Can’t Keep Its Drone Propaganda Straight | Upsetment | Scoop.it
This week, one government intelligence agency, after patiently and methodically tracking a terrorist leader for months through precise electronic
Kenneth Weene's insight:

Another example of the madhouse that is our American "Espionage Industry." We have given a bureaucracy control over a toy, so we had best expect that toy to be played with. Meanwhile, I prefer the intellectual powers of the other CIA, the one in Hyde Park. I figure we could win a lot more hearts and minds by creating some great new dishes than we ever will by killing people.

CIA Says It Will No Longer Use Vaccine Programs As Cover

CIA Says It Will No Longer Use Vaccine Programs As Cover | Upsetment | Scoop.it
Answering health experts' complaints that using vaccinations for spying had hurt international efforts to fight disease, the CIA says it has stopped the practice.
Kenneth Weene's insight:

Isn't that nice? How bad an idea was it to begin with? How many health professionals have died as a result? How many people have gone un-vaccinated? The American espionage services must be contained for they assuredly have no capacity to restrain themselves.

But agency officials shot back, calling the committee's concerns grossly overblown and ill informed.
Kenneth Weene's insight:

IMHO, why can't these emails be archived in one place and removed from the computers on which they are currently stored? This would give both the opportunity for future review and the clearing of computer caches which may be an appropriate goal. But no, the CIA wants those emails gone, and that makes me uneasy.

Four Questionable Claims Obama Has Made on NSA Surveillance

Four Questionable Claims Obama Has Made on NSA Surveillance | Upsetment | Scoop.it
President Obama, who is delivering a speech on surveillance policy today, has made a series of misleading statements about the NSA.
Kenneth Weene's insight:

In my opinion, the NSA (along with the CIA) has become more a threat to our way of life than a guardian. Sadly, Mr. Obama seems to have bought into the system rather than maintaining an awareness of its inherent tendency to perpetuate and expand itself.

Kenneth Weene's insight:

Just another example of how badly the CIA has served America. There has never been a good reason for trying to run the world from Langley, Virginia.
