Speech Recognition Breakthrough for the Spoken, Translated Word

Igår lekte min sambo och jag med att prata in sökuppdrag till Google. Idag tar jag del av detta fantastiska bevis på att vi har så mycket framför oss. Röstigenkänning som översätter till annat språk i realtid.

Chief Research Officer Rick Rashid demonstrates a speech recognition breakthrough via machine translation that converts his spoken English words into computer-generated Chinese language. The breakthrough is patterned after deep neural networks and significantly reduces errors in spoken as well as written translation.

Need An Infographic? Use NEW Visual.ly Marketplace

Need An Infographic? Use NEW Visual.ly Marketplace | Uppdrag : Skolbibliotek | Scoop.it

Marty Note
Creative idea from Visual.ly. Visual.ly is creating an infogrpahic marketplace where you can easily commission work. The process is explained in their demo video here: http://youtu.be/7v8lNRZgoHU . ;

I love this idea as a creative example of how to own a market by creating a market. By being the aggregator Visual.ly wins. Spoils in this new digital economy go to the platforms and Visual.ly's creative application of that idea creates a new market where creating an infographic is easier.

The other benefit of creating a market will be pricing competition. I was quoted a pretty HUGE sum to create an infographic about a year ago. Pricing should be moderated by competition.

Some are saying the era of the infogrpahic is over killed by over saturation. I disagree. Visual presentation of data is more engaging and easier to share than white papers and reports. One clear trend in 2012 discussed well by Liz Wilson is the visuals are crushing the textuals. Liz's article discusses the 2 big trends of 2012: the rise of curation and visuals.

Here is where you can find the Visual.ly Market Place: https://marketplace.visual.ly

Why K-12 schools are failing by not teaching SEARCH | The Thinking Stick

Why K-12 schools are failing by not teaching SEARCH | The Thinking Stick | Uppdrag : Skolbibliotek | Scoop.it

“I’m sorry the K-12 system has failed your students….they should know how to search by the time they get to college. But seeing that they don’t, until your students come prepared, you are going to have to pick up the slack.”

I then spent 30 minutes teaching university faculty how to search….because guess what……they didn’t know how to either. Which is exactly what I’ve come across with K-12 teachers, which helps to explain the unpreparedness of our students. So who is teaching our teachers the skills they need to teach our students?
