Obama claimed Snowden could argue his case in a U.S. court. But Obama declared Snowden’s fellow whistleblower, Army Private First Class Bradley Manning, guilty even before the trial of the soldier who was charged with and found guilty of disclosing a quarter million mostly classified State Department documents to WikiLeaks. Obama claims to have taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago, however, his command influence in the Manning case and executive branch animosity toward Snowden are indications that Mr. Obama has very little knowledge of the U.S. Constitution when it comes to presidential influence of prosecutions.

Three US soldiers killed in Afghanistan

Three US soldiers were killed in Afghanistan’s Pakita province on Sunday. Pakita, which is located in the east of the country, borders lawless areas of Pakistan and is considered to be of the most dangerous areas in the country. US troops handed over security responsibilities to Afghan security forces earlier this year and now are mainly involved in training. There are currently around 100,000 soldiers in the country as part of the NATO-led mission. The majority of troops – around 68,000 – are American. Most of the soldiers will be gone by the official end of the mission at the end of 2014.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday (August 9) decided to walk alone down a street in St.Petersburg

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday (August 9) decided to walk alone down a street in St.Petersburg after attending the funeral of his childhood judo trainer Anatoly Rakhlin.
Putin attended the memorial service for Rakhlin in his home town of St.Petersburg to pay respects to the person, who once said he was Putin's "second father", Russian agency RIA reported.
The Russian President laid flowers on Raklin's open casket and talked to his widow during the ceremony. Rakhlin, who died at 75, trained Putin for 15 years since the future Russian leader was 13 years old.
In a statement published on the presidential website kremlin.ru on Wednesday (August 7), Putin said Rakhlin's death was "a great and irreplaceable loss".
After the ceremony, in an unusual display of emotion, Putin waved away his limousine and walked alone down the street next to the funeral venue.

Because: not matter how “competitive” Greece is in terms of wages, there can be no growth and development in an unstable tax environment with continuously increasing corporate taxes. There can be no growth and unemployment when the purchase power is continuously decreasing, where there lack of liquidity while banks demand all your assets as guaranty for even small business loans.

“Success story” = big FAIL

CIA Gun-running, #Qatar - #Libya - #Syria | #AlQaeda & radical Salafi-Jihadi militants | Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth. | Scoop.it
A CNN report claims that “dozens” of CIA operatives were on the ground in Benghazi on the night of the attack, and the CIA is going to great lengths to suppress details of them and their whereabout...

Although Saudi Arabia have recently been kindly given “the Syrian card” by the United States – with Prince Bandar once again becoming “Prince of the Jihad”; it has become common knowledge that since the onset of the Syrian crisis, it was Qatar at the forefront of supplying arms and funds to both the political and militant elements of the so-called “opposition”. This has undoubtedly included tacit support of the dominant radical elements among the plethora of brigades on the ground in Syria; with Jabhat al Nusra being the most obvious beneficiary of Qatari largesse.

Earlier this year it wasreported that the CIA had been in direct “consultation” with the Qatari Monarchys’ network of arms smugglers – run primarily from the Emir’s palace in Doha. Accordingly, it seems certain that both the CIA and Qatari intelligence were involved in an operation to ship arms stockpiles from “rebels” in Libya; to the “rebels” in Syria: both varieties of which are inextricably linked to Al Qaeda affiliates and radical Salafi-Jihadi militants.

#Israel|i Democracy: A Convenient Illusion

#Israel|i Democracy: A Convenient Illusion | Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth. | Scoop.it

Israel’s more hypocrisy than democracy. Rhetoric belies longstanding policy. Nothing ahead suggests change.

Democracy exists in name only. Arundhati Roy calls India a “limbless, headless, soulless torso left bleeding under the butcher’s cleaver with a flag driven deep into her mutilated heart.”

America’s the same. So is Israel. They’re pariah states. They’re rogue states. They abhor fundamental freedoms. They prioritize war and instability. They deplore peaceful conflict resolution.

Israel’s an ethnocracy. It’s polar opposite democracy. Israeli leaders refer to “Jewish democracy.” It’s Orwellian. Structural inequalities explain.

US Government "Protection" of Al-Qaeda Terrorists and the US-Saudi "Black Hole" | Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth. | Scoop.it

This fusion of U.S. and Saudi governing interests is as much political as economic. The first oil price hike of 1972-73, arranged by Nixon with the King of Saudi Arabia and the Shah of Iran, helped pay to arm Iran and Saudi Arabia as U.S. proxies in the region, following the withdrawal of British troops from the region in 1971.[170] The oil price hikes of 1979-80, on the other hand, were assuredly not the intention of President Carter, a political victim of the increases. They have however been credibly attributed to the work of oil majors like BP, possibly acting in collusion with Republicans; and had the result of helping to elect Ronald Reagan (as well as Margaret Thatcher in England).[171]
