John Kerry says lack of coordination has set back the drive to remove President Bashar al-Assad.

US Secretary of State John Kerry says the United States and its allies have “wasted a year” in Syria by failing to coordinate efforts to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad.

In a private meeting with Syrian opposition leaders at the State Department in Washington, D.C. last Thursday, Kerry lamented that the lack of coordination had dramatically set back the drive to remove Assad from power, The Daily Beast reports.

Today, despite the difficulties you mentioned we notice signals from the current Georgian leaders and we are receiving them. Imagine, today Russia accounts for two thirds of Georgia’s wine and wine stock exports. They are coming to the Russian market not to some other market abroad. We are importing these products as well as others and our trade has increased. It declined a little this year due to general economic difficulties, but on the whole it is demonstrating fairly high growth rates.

As for visas, we’re ready to cancel them with Georgia.

PressTV-No outsider can decide for Syria: Putin | Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth. | Scoop.it

It is hard for us to reach agreement with the current Turkish leadership, if at all possible,” Putin said during his news conference. He said the downing of the Russian warplane was “an act of enmity” and that he did not understand why Turkey did it.

“What have they achieved? Maybe they thought that we would run away from there (Syria)? But Russia is not such a country,” Putin said.

Gaddafi Killed... and All of Libya Along With Him | Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth. | Scoop.it
Out of all the Arab states affected by the wave of the so-called "Arab Spring", Libya has become the first and the fastest country sinking in chaos.

The murder of the head of state — Muammar al-Gaddafi, by rebels supported by NATO air power was supposed to bring democracy and freedom… But what did Libya receive in return, a country, which once headed the list of the richest countries in Africa, instead of the promised freedom and democracy?

Respecting Sovereignty? Iraq Wants UN to Intervene in Turkish Troop Saga | Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth. | Scoop.it
After hundreds of Turkish troops filed into northern Iraq last week, Baghdad was quick to call foul. Viewing the move as a breach of its national sovereignty, Iraq gave a 48-hour deadline for the complete withdrawal of Turkey’s forces.

That deadline came and went without any reaction from Ankara, which insists that the troops are essential to defend trainers at a military base in the region.

Baghdad is now making good on its backup plan: an appeal to the UN Security Council.

Shoigu said that Russia has also greatly improved the capabilities of its strategic nuclear forces in a countermeasure to US and NATO’s rising nuclear deployment, adding that the Russian nuclear triad is now outfitted with 55 percent of modern hardware.

Russia does not look favorably upon the deployment of nuclear weapons in NATO states near its borders. Russian President Vladimir Putin said in June that if NATO threatens Russia, Moscow will respond to the threat accordingly.

“If someone threatens our territories, it means that we will have to aim our armed forces accordingly at the territories from where the threat is coming. How else could it be? It is NATO that approaching our borders, it’s not like we are moving anywhere,” he said.

Where and when was your first job in Yugoslavia?

I arrived by helicopter with three agents. We landed on 12 January 1991 in Sarajevo. Our job was to keep an eye on alleged terrorists of Serbian nationality, who were expected to attack Sarajevo.

Who were the terrorists in question and why were they supposed to carry out these attacks?

They gave us files about a group called “Supreme Serbia” detailing plans to conduct a series of bomb attacks on key buildings in Sarajevo in opposition to Bosnia’s ambition to leave former Yugoslavia.

“Judging by the reaction of some members of the UN Security Council, the actions of the Turkish military were a surprise even for its closest allies. Although thanks to the notorious block solidarity they refrained from critical comments directed at Ankara over those actions that blatantly violate international law,” she said.

She added: “It is becoming increasingly clear that if there is one thing they know how to do collectively in NATO, it’s staying collectively silent.”

The spokesperson said the UN Security Council will soon discuss the conflict over the Turkish incursion and that hopefully the scrutiny would restrain “hotheads in Ankara.”

The son of late Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi, Hannibal, has been kidnapped in Lebanese capital of Beirut, security sources say.

The group which kidnapped Gaddafi’s son is looking for information about a Shia cleric, who went missing in Libya decades ago. Late on Friday, a video was aired on the Beirut-based Al-Jadeed TV, in which Hannibal urged anyone who might be aware of the fate of Imam Moussa al-Sadr, to come forward.

In the footage, the man said that he was “in good health, happy and relaxed,” despite clear traces of violence on his body, including black eyes.

Hannibal was reportedly visiting his wife, Aline Skaf, at the time of the kidnapping.

Some reports indicate that the kidnappers have handed Gaddafi over to the authorities in Lebanon's internal security information branch

Everyone has noticed the contradiction of those who recently characterized the Islamic Emirate as "freedom fighters" in Syria and who are indignant today faced with its abuses in Iraq. But if that speech is incoherent in itself, it makes perfect sense in the strategic plan: the same individuals were to be presented as allies yesterday and must be as enemies today, even if they are still on orders from Washington. Thierry Meyssan reveals below US policy through the particular case of Senator John McCain, conductor of the "Arab Spring" and longtime partner of Caliph Ibrahim.
