[VIDEO] - Gamma-Rays Prove Einstein Right: Space-Time Is Smooth | Video

After 7 billion years of travel, high and low energy photons arrive at NASA's Fermi spacecraft a mere 900ms apart, suggesting that space-time isn't the bubbly foam of quantum theory but seems closer to Einstein's smooth rubbery membrane.

CAPTCHA

To CAPTCHA προέρχεται από τα αρχικά της φράσης «Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart».

Technology Teacher or Teacher?

Technology Teacher or Teacher? | omnia mea mecum fero | Scoop.it

Tom Whitby

For years I served on the board of directors of The New York State Association for Computers and Technologies in Education, a group known to most as NYSCATE.

As professionals we need to stop separating out technology from learning. It has become part of everything we do. It will not go away or even take a single step back.

The actual use of technology in a course does not always need to fall on the teacher.

===> In many cases the student can be the teacher and the teacher can be the student. <===

That takes an open mind and a flexible, adaptive approach to learning and teaching. These are not bad traits for any teacher to have; be it any teacher in general, or a computer teacher specifically. Technology has become a tool of our profession, whether we use it, teach it, or study it, we need to deal with it. It is now a required part of what we do in our profession. For technology to become ubiquitous we need to stop compartmentalizing it from what we do.

Gust MEES: looking for a win-win situation between teacher (learner) and student (learner), even giving a challenge to students to do better than the teacher and trying so to make everybody learning better ;) Keeps teacher and students fit on new knowledge!

Technology - I chose this resource because it encourages the use of technology across curriculum and not just from a technology class.  I hope to use this resource to share with my colleagues the importance of using technology in all subject areas.

[VIDEO] Animation: Just How Small is an Atom?

Just how small are atoms? And what's inside them? The answers turn out to be astounding, even for those who think they know. This fast-paced animation uses spectacular metaphors (imagine a blueberry the size of a football stadium!) to give a visceral sense of the building blocks that make our world. Lesson by Jonathan Bergmann, animation by Cognitive Media.

Free Technology for Teachers: Google Docs for Teachers - A Free eBook

In the past I have published a couple of guides to using Google Documents in the classroom. The problem with those guides is that they were made before the latest round of updates to Google Documents. Yesterday I sat down and built a new guide, Google Documents for Teachers. The 40 page guide (embedded below) is designed to help teachers who have never used Google Documents. This document is part of a larger project that I hope to complete this month. Please leave a comment if you have suggestions about how to improve this document. ...

Are You Learning as Fast as the World Is Changing?

Are You Learning as Fast as the World Is Changing? | omnia mea mecum fero | Scoop.it
Tom Kelly, general manager of IDEO, the world-renowned design firm, likes to quote French novelist Marcel Proust, who famously said, "The real act of discovery consists not in finding new lands but in seeing with new eyes." What goes for novelists...

Today, the challenge for leaders at every level is no longer just to out-hustle, out-muscle, and out-maneuver the competition. It is to out-think the competition in ways big and small, ===> to develop a unique point of view about the future and help your organization get there before anyone else does. <===

Which is why a defining challenge of leadership is whether you can answer a question that is as simple as it is powerful: Are you learning as fast as the world is changing?
