Between Science & Art: Connectograms and Circos Visualization Tool

Between Science & Art: Connectograms and Circos Visualization Tool | omnia mea mecum fero | Scoop.it

The point is to show how advances in imaging and data visualization technologies enable inter-disciplinary research which just a decade ago would have been impossible to conduct. There is also a somewhat artistic quality to these images, which reinforces the notion of data visualization being both art and science.

Gene Appears Linked With A Person's Daily Rhythms | omnia mea mecum fero | Scoop.it

The settings for a person’s biological clock might provide clues to when, during the day, he or she will be more active. What’s more, these same settings could be linked to what time of day a person might die, a new study finds.

Πώς το περιβάλλον επηρεάζει τα γονίδιά μας;

Πώς το περιβάλλον επηρεάζει τα γονίδιά μας; | omnia mea mecum fero | Scoop.it

Playing God - BBC Horizon

Adam Rutherford meets a new creature created by American scientists - the spider-goat. It is part goat, part spider, and its milk can be used to create artificial spider's web.

It is part of a new field of research, synthetic biology, with a radical aim: to break down nature into spare parts so that we can rebuild it however we please.

This technology is already being used to make bio-diesel to power cars. Other researchers are looking at how we might, one day, control human emotions by sending 'biological machines' into our brains.
