Smartphone Mindfulness Challenge: What Will You Miss in 48 Hours?

From indyyogi.com

I originally purchased a smartphone years ago because my boss at the time would always be one step ahead of me when we were traveling. She wanted to discuss things with me that she had just seen on email.
craig daniels:

It's the buzz, right?  We seem to have a need to be connected all the time to the buzz, and doesn't even matter if the buzz is inane, does it?

Give Unplugging a try, even for just an hour or two. Put tech away for a little while and maybe head outdoors for a quiet walk. I know for me and maybe for you walking can be a life enriching experience even in a noisy city. Give it a try, you'll like it.

craig daniels:

What a great idea, Unplug and Play week, The heck with having time set aside for just kids to unplug and play, let's have a week for everyone to unplug and play.

If we want to show other it's more then ok to unplug than adults need to start setting the example for future generations.Let's all unplug more and become an example to those around us.

The Disease of Being Busy

From www.onbeing.org

Our overscheduled lives leave little time for contemplation and reflection. How do we enable each other to pause and reflect together and ask how our hearts are doing?
craig daniels:

It's almost impossible to not get caught in the distraction trap. Everywhere we turn something is waving at us, something is pleading for our attention and focus.

Take a moment (yes I'm waving for your attention) to read this post, you'll be glad you did.

Mindfulness Practice Deepens Dialogue

From www.whatisdialogue.com

Deep in the middle of another frigid February with record snowfall, I jumped into my bright red Honda to take a 500 mile drive to a remote meditation center. Unplugging Ourselves and Avoiding Overexposure

From www.whatisdialogue.com

Unplugging Ourselves from the always-on world we now inhabit is essential to our creative and innovative selves.
craig daniels:

Finding a balance between quiet and the constant always-on state we currently find ourselves both at work and at home can be a challenge.

Getting that balance need not be something we only wish for, take 5 minutes every 90 minutes or so to close your eyes and breathe deeply. Fall this mini routine for a week and I think you'll agree that more energy and better focus will come your way.

Expand Each Moment - Embracing Silence

From www.whatisdialogue.com

Between each thought in our mind is space and moment, We can expand that space, expand that moment by Embracing Silence.
craig daniels:

Our minds are a jumble of images and ideas that seem at times to flow with the force of water cascading forth at a dizzily high waterfall.

We've forgotten how beneficial setting aside time for silence can be not only for ourselves but also for our friends, family and for our work as well.

'End of Absence': Author says technology is threatening introspection

From www.msn.com

Michael Harris' epiphany came when, as a writer at Vancouver Magazine, he looked at his computer screen and saw 14 open windows while his smartphone was buzzing almost nonstop. What attention he had left was bouncing back and forth between the two. In that moment, he says, he realized he was everywhere and nowhere at once.
Ivon Prefontaine's curator insight, November 11, 2014 1:24 PM

We need to create space for mindfulness and introspection to occur.
